Anyone that has been on Lakenheath recently will know that the dorm in question already has the roof trusses in place. It is due to be completed by April 24, not quite sure where they got 2026 from.

If the balloon ever went up, then I hope I'll be blissfully drunk at the epicentre (see you on the othe side :halo:)

Update 14.11.23 - The Guardian has an update on the nuclear store story - seems CND are asking the local council for an environmental impact study, may end up in court - worth a read for background

Reopen the GLCM shelters at Greenham Common and other bases to disperse things a bit?

Lakenheath has to be the base to site the nukes. They need to be where the aircraft are based. Also lets hope the cnd lot dont take over the viewing area! Knowing are Police they will be making them tea,and checking there not cold !

Off topic I know, but the Police would be better utilised sorting out the illegal parking on the A1065 which is a clearway. I saw cars recently parked next to the "At any time on verge" sign near the centreline.

Blackcat to follow your pub idea .In the late seventies while comissioning a new Electronic telephone exchange at Giffnock on the south side of Glasgow we ran out of some stores. While waiting for resupply the local guys gave us a tour of the old electromechanical exch.Spotting a box with some lights on it we asked the obvious question and were told That belongs to the M o D.We were then told that if the red light came on follow them to the pub over the road and have a party as you were never going to get a bill.Sobering thought at that time,as big city, airport, military bases round about, docks and main railway line in vicinity .No Sweat!!

What? reporting on a news item? I know it’s a foreign concept to DM/DT readers, but I’m not sure what your point is?
