The route was always planned to be south of the runway centreline to enable them to fly over the ATC tower! Same for Tain too, which was awesome by the way, video of which is posted upon Twitter and FB.

No Thunder. It was not aimed at you, but aimed at people who moaned about it being a single flypast.

Yes that is what I saw this morning, however instead of following a heading of 230ish deg they flew about 190-195ish deg.
Anyway it's all over so no point on going on and on about it.
Re: Tornado farewell flypast February 2019
People have had the last 40 years to view and photograph these wonderful aircraft. I rest my case.

Well for me...
What a fantastic turnout of folk at the end of the runway at RAF Leuchars ( I know it's not that now but for me always will be) There were hundreds there. On my way home I passed the path that runs from the railway station along the back of the service houses. It brought memories back of air displays back in the day when folk streamed along there from trains. Yes, there were lots of folk walking back to their cars in the station car park. ( minus a quid! Used to be free!)
It was great to catch them one last time. I love the Tornados. Especially fond memories of the F3s when here.
I didn't even take my camera. Just wanted to see them. I spoke to a few folk ( with some awesome cameras and lenses!) and we were all,sad to see them go. They have served us well.
A poignant day indeed. As for moaning....
My dad missed this today much to his great disappointment as he was in hospital getting a biopsy on a tumour...
Now that is worth moaning about!
He will love seeing the photos on here so special thanks to those that post
Take care all

I had the same feelings as you did today walking upto the edge of the field brought back so many good memories that sadly will never be added to but an awesome turnout at Leuchars was really good to see so many people turnout for the final flypast.
Re: Tornado farewell flypast February 2019
I am old enough to remember the Tornados arriving at Honington, they were tucked in a hangar with the cockpits covered by a sheet. I went to Honington to see the farewell flypast along with a lot of other people, everyone cheery and polite, great to see. I was lucky, they came straight across the airfield, parallel to the runway and directly over my head. Well done to the pilots, crew and all who made it possible, thank you RAF, sorry to see these go into retirement.
As for the negativity of some, please remember this was not an air show but a chance to see these great aircraft pass by one last time.........

Like Brexit means Brexit, a Flypast means a Fly.....past, it doesn't mean an airshow!
I'm just grateful for being able to watch three Tornados flying past in formation, my photos are poor, but I was there, I saw it and that's a memory that will last for years.

Like quid21 my photos at Leuchars aren`t as good as they could be as I was too distracted by the amount of people there and just watching the aircraft for the last time.It was pretty amazing when standing at the end of the runway to turn round and see the amount of people on the railway bridge at the railway station.Would have to assume it exceeded its design load.

I was mowing a cricket field near Leicester and around 3-35pm this afternoon a GR4 gave me a farewell flypast. Nothing too exciting, about 2000 feet and not going too quick and heading towards Marham, thanks for the memories.

I've had the privilege of seeing the maiden flight of the XX946 the
prototype MRCA which evolved into the tornado and the flight of the three
tornados in vic formation as they flew over Warton for the final time.
My thanks to the RAF Pilots and Warton Test Pilots whose flights I have
enjoyed watching over the last 40 years.
