Bought this but personally found it quite disappointing, thin on fact and personal & flying experiences, contradicts itself in a few places and some of the chronology around the Falklands campaign seems wrong.

I don't know wether this is the correct section to ask this but, I have the book "Fighting Force" from the RAF's 90th Anniversary 10 Years Ago, now I was wondering wether anyone knows wether there is a similar Book planned for This Years 100th Centenary Anniversary?

There is one coming soon. https://www.waterstones.com/book/raf-10 ... 0233005263
Is there anything extra to write about apart from a few humanitarian operations? from the 90 year one. But 10 years of closures and force reduction withdrawals would hardly be good publicity for the RAF. :(

I've just started to read the museum's latest publication: Station of Nations – The History of RAF Balderton

Last Sunday I was also privileged to meet two of the veterans who contributed to the book, this was during the RAF Balderton Commemoration at the museum; very thought provoking.

Helicopter Boys by Richard Pike.

Helicopter Boys is the latest addition to Grub Street's Boys series from acclaimed
author Richard Pike, exploring the role of helicopters in military and civilian
situations. With fourteen contributors, Helicopter Boys contains many accounts
of the diverse nature of helicopter operations.

From the dramatic war scenes during the Indo/Pakistan war which saw one pilot's
action earn him a VrC gallantry award to the Chinook pilots on board the Atlantic
Conveyor during the Falklands War. Then there are civilian tales from the rescue
missions in the outer Hebrides to being a pilot across the world in such places as
Australia and Nigeria. There is also a focus on the Piper Alpha disaster in 1988
which saw the loss of 167 lives. The book ends with Pike's experiences in Kosovo,
helping to distribute emergency humanitarian aid on behalf of the United Nations
World Food Program shortly after the war ended in 1999. Each story is told with
great detail conveying the action and excitement that the helicopter pilots
experienced with each operation. The scope, flair and pace of the writing in this
book will appeal to the general reader as well as the enthusiast.

Lawrence Colby's sequel to the Devil Dragon Pilot is out 1st December. The Black Scorpion Pilot is a darn good read (got a pre-release PDF to read and review on Amazon from the author) and is well worth picking up when it comes out.

Fire Strike 7/9 by Damien Lewis gives a different perspective on the ground support role, one heck of a read
