No recent planning applications have been made, last application was made in May 2010.

I have to say that from the information available within the various references I'm not sure anybody knows what they're getting for 35.4 m. If the Tender was anything like the Press-releases it will be +++ extras not included in the woolly Contract!
Q1... is it a runway extension (metres or feet!)?.. or is it a runway life-extension? Extract from 'the construction index'..."The rebuilding and extension of RAF Waddington’s runway will be...."
Q2... Extract from 'the construction index'..."extend the existing perimeter track, which will further enhance airfield safety." Why would they extend the taxiway, unless it serves a longer runway? It doesn't say 'extend the life'..because any work done will surely do just that!
Q3... Do they really mean 'widen'... as in the Eastern taxiway which currently has no 'margins' to the sides of the actual taxiway width. That would help prevent the risk of 'ploughing' with the main-gear & the preference to backtrack the main r/w? = possible 'airfield safety' aspect.
So many questions, so little clarity! The bottom-line is that only people who have a side-bet 'need' to know, for the rest of us we just enjoy the end result.
It always worries me when they spend so much money in one place...because normally it shuts within 5 years, hopefully Waddo' can break the cycle? As an aside, I hope John & the WAVE are sustainable during the closure, as I'm assuming there are no plans to cease trading for that period?

Come on supra, it's fun trying to work out what's going on out of the information that's available ;)

I think Graham is close with his statement, I'm 99% certain it'll stay within the 20 threshold fence.

Whatever happens my thoughts are with John and the WAVE during this period.

The extension of the perimeter track includes an opportunity to reduce a major identified risk issue associated with an active airfield, which is "unauthorised runway incursions". This means unauthorised/uncontrolled entrance to the active runway. This is a major risk, with statistical data showing that this DOES occur for numerous reasons at numerous airfields; hence it is felt that extending the perimeter road past the ends of the runway means that traffic should not, in future inadvertently cross an active runway. Consider also numerous other crossing points along the length of Waddingtons runway, these may be addressed in safety terms during the refurbishment.
Apologies if this sounds nearly first hand knowledge, but that's because it may just be...
Critically observing Pension regulatory activity... :D

so looking at that' the perimeter track at runway 20 end will be bought nearer the a15 running parallel to it and loop round across alfa dispersal to join up with the other south side taxiway. and at runway 02 end extended into the field ?
so no more parking on base at 20 end on arrivals day in future!!

just my thoughts
