Re: Queen's Funeral visitors thread.
In the article it says that Heathrow can't be used when private jets are used and (smaller) airfields around London should be used. But is this not the normal procedure? Heathrow is hardly used for government flights. Mostly Northolt Farnborough Stansted eg are used. Or am I wrong?

Can we add Gatwick onto the list of contenders for related movements?Canberra TT.18 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 10:16 amIn the article it says that Heathrow can't be used when private jets are used and (smaller) airfields around London should be used. Chilean President used LGW last year for his visit to the UK, whilst JASDF 777 visited during the G7 summit and the Korean 747 parked up during COP26.

Re: Queen's Funeral visitors thread.
All aircraft with VIPs to land at RAF Brize Norton (which is secure) and discharge the passengers for welcoming committee.
Land transport in secure convoys to embassies and or hotels.
Empty aircraft to be dispersed to secure military airfields until required.
VIPs travelling on commercial flights to go to Stansted and land convoy as above.

Re: Queen's Funeral visitors thread.
I suspect its just logisitcs and security management. If there are to be that many official visitors each with their own aircraft and vehicles it'll be chaotic trying to get everyone to the Abbey on and in good time to keep to schedule, they don't have a lot of time to organise this after all, even given there will be a skeleton plan already in place. Securing and protecting a few luxury coaches through London with timed road closures etc will be far easier than a succession of cars coming from all over the place. Similarly flights into the country to a variuety of airports and then onward heli flights or vehicles to central London. No doubt the big players will have a bit more clout to get what they want.burnsy133 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 8:30 amThe statement about the commercial flights has to be made to keep Greta and co from having kittens and the likes of extinction rebellion disrupting the event with protests. Can you really see Biden arriving on Norse into LGW and the getting the Gatwick express into London, ain’t going to happen, the same goes for most of the G20 at least, just cannot see them jumping on commercial flights.
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.
Re: Queen's Funeral visitors thread.
So South Africa can organise the largest ever state funeral but the UK apparently cannot is basically what we are saying.
Where did all the planning go ?
Really does make us look like a laughing stock.

Re: Queen's Funeral visitors thread.
I'm sure that those that need to know already had much of the planning in hand & it'll be a smooth, seamless & dignified occasion.
Not sure where you got the idea that it will be anything different.
Re: Queen's Funeral visitors thread.
Makes sense I suppose.Probably close the A40/M40 to allow smooth progress.

Re: Queen's Funeral visitors thread.
Agreed, it’s a funeral not an airshow. It’s well organised and all they are doing is publishing the plans that have been years in the making.

Just confirmed;
King and queen of The Netherlands and the king's mother will be at the funural.

Re: Queen's Funeral visitors thread.
Must confess i too suspect there would be a few raised eyebrows from the various Heads of Government if they feel they have to share a bus.
I would think the respective security agencies won't wear that.

Re: Queen's Funeral visitors thread.
You can't compare this with Mandelas funeral, as that took place in a Sports Stadium and not an Abbey which is hundreds of years old.

Re: Queen's Funeral visitors thread.
As indicated earlier in the thread, there is precedence for this at a D-day commemoration a few years ago, all the leaders were on a bus then. It’s a much more practical way to move a sizeable number of world leaders around London than individual convoys.Headance99 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 3:59 pmMust confess i too suspect there would be a few raised eyebrows from the various Heads of Government if they feel they have to share a bus.

Re: Queen's Funeral visitors thread.
The aircraft didn’t land in the sports stadium, For Mandelas funeral there were only 3 airports in the Johannesburg area which could take any of the large jets and bizjets that africed..Captain Haddock wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 4:02 pmYou can't compare this with Mandelas funeral, as that took place in a Sports Stadium and not an Abbey which is hundreds of years old.

This is a thread about the Queen's Funeral visitors. It will be on 200 pages by the time we get there !! Can we not just have confirmed arrivals as per the very useful message ? Most since have been pointless

Yes, the ramblings of folk with nothing else to do are annoying. When you have some concrete movement news you can use your keyboard. Until then DESIST.
