They still got the HAS site at Newquay, could operate out of there big enough??
Yes they're standard NATO ones so will be big enough........... but..... are they not on the civilian side of the airport now and in civilian use?

Think most, if not all of the HASs are now part of the museum, went in one two years ago. Worth a visit.

All these theories!! Marham is open on 11 June for one purpose only - to provide my Birthday flypast. :)
Well why didn't you say so in the first place - would have saved all this waffle

Many happy returns for next week :thumb:

What would you like for your birthday present - 4 US Army CH-47F and a black hawk!

How will potus get from Cornwall to London to meet the queen? In a chopper or C-32 / VC-25 etc?

Will he visit the service men and women at Lakenheath/Mildenhall?

I'll throw this into the hat guy's. Maybe going to have a couple of QRA Typhoon at Marham that weekend as cover in case there was a problem at Coningsby. I believe this may have happened when London hosted the Olympics in 2012?

Pure guess work.
VC-25 into Stansted Thursday 10th arriving before midday. Followed by (usually by two) C-32
2xVH-60 plus 3xVH-22 transit into London (US Army CH-47 might also be used) The helicopters will have been delivered by C-17s into Mildenhall, the Ospreys tanker supported by KC-130J
Thursday evening banquet with the Queen and other G7 heads.
Friday morning VH-60 / VH-22 transit president Biden back to Stansted
Stansted to Newquay in the VC-25 followed by the C-32
Once at Newquay the POTUS will require the VH-60, as the same helicopters can not be used expect two different ones here, hence the C-17s into Newquay this week.
Sunday 13th VH-60 transit from Carbis to Newquay and POTUS flies out on VC-25, think he is scheduled in Brussels Monday/Tuesday, but guess he could return to London (VC-25 to Stansted)
Wednesday 16th meeting Putin in Geneva.
Assuming the European half of the visit will require helicopter support either more VH-60 delivered or the Stansted pair can fly over Friday afternoon.

writing the above makes me think
1) has the VH-3 been withdrawn
2) is the new VH-92 in service yet
3) how many VH-60 are in use

Regards helicopter support from Newquay to Carbis Bay Hotel.
How will the other G7 heads of state travel. We know the Japanese will arrive in Newquay on B777, but as yet no Japanese helicopters
France, Germany, Italy all have VVIP jets but they could also bring their own helicopter.
Canada will use the VVIP CC-150 into Newquay, by what about the transfer flights.
Boris will probably use the 8.15 out of Paddington and get on his bike. lol

VH-3 is still in use, VH-92 is not used for presidential duties yet, although they are being flown for testing and crewtraining, familiarization etc

The VH-3D Sea Kings are still going strong. Biden is regularly flying in them for flights to and from his home in Delaware.

The current helo landing spot is the Ellipse outside the White House grounds. There is construction work ongoing on the White House South Lawn.

See some footage from yesterday from this chap in Washington DC.

You can catch the VH-3Ds regularly on the WH live webcam.

The schedule is on the Biden Calendar. Helos are scheduled in tonight at the White House 1715 DC time - 2115 GMT - 2215 BST.

You can listen to them live on the helo frequency for Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport

Just pondering what roll Culdrose will have for the G7 ,as it is the nearest military airfield to Carbis Bay. Looking on the Devon and Cornwall police site there doesn't appear to be any road closures or restricted access in the area. I would have thought it would be paying a key roll, especially where helicopter movements are concerned.

Not all, but a few, yup. Others are used by Gateguards and previously the Bloodhound SSC. The area's a long way beyond being suitable for active use again in the proposed way, and it's not secure at all (go through one gate and you'd be driving around armed aircraft almost instantly!). There are gates but generally the whole area is fenced off from the airside portion of the airport. It's also all airport owned, rather than MoD, as far as I know.

As for Culdrose, I expect there'll be comings and goings of the rotary kind, with maybe some fixed wing as support - time will tell. Not sure there will be any VIP arrivals through there however, even for those with smaller aircraft - Newquay may be further away by mileage, but it's a straight and simple journey along the A30 for most of the drive to Carbis Bay. There are already plans in place for rolling road closures to facilitate movements on the A30.

Blimey! I haven't seen this much hilarity over one misplaced letter since I was in the 6th form common room.

You're probably correct that there will be no VIP's coming from Culdrose by land. The roads from there to St.Ives are a nightmare at the best of times.
