Didn't see the shaded out reggies, but they did blur out the names on the cockpit sills.

Yes and also all this hype of how good you can see out of it, with such hype on looking through the aircraft, what happened to it when he was doing his hover landings, he was trying to peer outside the sides of his cockpit.
If he could see through the bottom of the aircraft like advertised he would look down and drop the jet smack bang in the middle.
For some reason he struggled.

Could be any number of reasons, psychological, technical, training requirements, etc.

Also the picture is not in stereo 3D and you can't judge height accurately with just one eye.

Could be that the F35 he was trying to hover was missing the VR Hotfix V1.11

Any idea why the documentary makers shaded out the serial numbers on the Hawks?
I noticed that too, they did for some (landing/takeoff) and then not for others (Static)

We wont use it for QRA, thats what we have typhoon for and for times when they need to launch quickly then the aircraft will already be set up.

Great insight into the training and abilities of this new aircraft. I think some commentators on FC forget that a lot of information is regarded as Classified and a highly skilled pilot and the technology still has certified limits. Looking forward to the next episode as well as visual observation over my house today. Life can be Sweet sometimes.

Is that the highly-classified auto-positioning & self-landing update that makes the Pilot more dead-weight to lug around? ;)

Not an issue then as it’s not going to be used for QRA. Whilst I note the comments of the FC community and opinion based on their level of knowledge, I’ll always defer to the opinion of a friend of mine who is an F35 commander and who rates it hugely as a massive step change in capability.

The blurring of some serials was probably for continuity purposes where shots from different sorties have been used to show a single sortie.

I can just imagine this coming over the scanner. "Maverick, customer service. Good morning Sir, this is Gupta from Talk Talk. There is a problem with your computer..."

Why did they scrap the other VTOL aircraft then? Will this be better than the Harrier time will tell, as for the programme it will be a good recruitment tool for the RAF.

Looking at the bigger picture and not trying to spot the registrations of the planes for a change, I was delighted with Samantha Bond's commentary - nicely paced and sounded as if she knew what she was talking about. Much better than the false urgency of the laddish commentator in the recent Red Arrows documentary and far more interesting than the Plane Spotters Live crew from a few weeks back. They found a good cross section of people to follow - thankfully, despite the title of the programme, none of them reminded me of the vertically challenged F-14 flying Hollywood star. They could have been the boy or girl next door and stopped the show degenerating into Strictly Red Arrows.

Having never flown a Hawk through the Mach Loop, I can't say how realistic that bit was but I enjoyed it very much.

Full marks to ITV - more of the same, please.

World financial mismanagement meant we, like a lot of countries. couldn't afford a proper NHS, Police Force, Social Services, let alone a peace-time military of that size at the time...

Is a Lexus better than a dearly loved model T Ford? Time may tell, but I hope we don't have to prove it.

It already is in terms of capability and performance, and yes, I miss the Harrier too.
