If I was a conspiracy theorist then all the problems with adsb of late might be caused by the competition who don't like certain aircraft showing because they make money by showing those missing aircraft to people who are conned into paying.
The various governments around the world don't seem worried, so I don't suspect them, anyway they use the system to try to fool people.
There are even some USAF pilots who insist on using mode-s. I heard a conversation between a KC135 pilot and a London controller, she asked him to switch of his mode-s, He refused, as he said it was on for safety reasons. (It makes TCAS work better?)
The silence from the people who run the system, about the problems does make me wonder!

I like you thinking but you really need a tinfoil hat I'm afraid.
The default setting in Virtual Radar Server (the software behind ADS-B Exchange and most others!) is that labels are disabled for internet users. Every update of VRS, it defaults to off. Every update of VRS, you have to turn it on again. Perhaps they just forgot.
