I wonder if the latest revisions to the CAA display guidelines/rules have scuppered the display practiced, now no time to make and practice changes.

After all, I would have thought the display was devised by RAF instructor pilots and would not have been deemed as unsafe at the time.

Any thoughts anybody?

I think they had their Authorisation flights recently, so, it may be the reason that the man who says yes has looked and said no.
Have to say I do enjoy the King Air displays.

"Just not in the time frame we had available to us"

So they couldn't revise the display in time for the first shows of the season; does that really warrant scapping all their subsequent displays?

Not a great advertisement for the RAF there. Something unexpected happens, just throw up your hands and go and sulk?

It is unfortunate that the Squadron will not be displaying. There must be sensible reasons why it was withdrawn.

I doubt that they are "sulking", hacked off, maybe. They do have a day job remember.

Bye the way, did the aircraft get its paint job?

Are well, back to the BBMF & RAFAT over RAF Cottesmore later today. Only a flypast but better than just "lights in the night"
:D
(See previous thread in RAF Cottesmore section )

Maybe next year

The display work up requires fairly significant flying time and, allied to that, time at the airfield to practice - which has a knock-on effect on other airfield users. Simply extending a work up isn't necessarily as simple as it sounds; as a guide a display asset may effectively close the airfield to other traffic for up to an hour a day to practice, several times per week (an "embargo"). Once in to the season (post PDA) the practice demands are somewhat less.

What utter nonsense re the RAF's capabilities and so rude and offensive to those who worked hard as part of the team. As is often the case I'm sure these things look so easy sat in your armchair, less so in real life. :grr:

I thought the RAF display rules were tighter than CAA anyway, and even if not, modifying an existing routine can't be that difficult can it ?
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

See my post above. Difficult? Probably not. But time and resources wise, possibly very difficult.

Saw that King Air post, I was referring to the post much further down that refers to a press release regarding the cancellation of the team display. It is that press release I have not found.
