Re: Queens birthday Flypast
We got to see the lead heli section over my works location, Gunby, E. Lincs, Wildcats in trail followed by Puma/Chinook, as they headed NNE to start the run in with one r/h orbit and through our overhead again before commencing a l/h turn for Cranwell. More than I had expected to see today...so happy with that

Re: Queens birthday Flypast
If the report in the local rag is to be believed, the RAF has gained a new aircraft type and also a new airbase!

Either they spoke to a local who didn't have a clue, or someone thought they could have a laugh....

F-35 from Marham.
Re: Queens birthday Flypast
According to the Squadron Leader who was speaking on Forces News should be 70 aircraft in total. As only 22 took part in the rehearsal today which were mainly heli,s and heavies I am assuming there will be formations of Typhoons,Hawks,Texans and F35,S plus the Reds.

Of the 4 comments, well the wasting fuel comment was the most hilarious... Miserable oxygen muggle
Re: Queens birthday Flypast
Should be 3 x Puma and 3 x Chinook, based on the recent formation practice flight at Benson........
Re: Queens birthday Flypast
Its a tri-service fly past, you can expect to see Apache's & Merlin's on the day too.

It's been well and truly beaten now.
"I believe that bad weather, I.e. a line of thunder storms actually stopped the rehearsal!"
And yes, that is posted in reply to the article about the rehearsal, which contacts pictures as proof of the rehearsal actually happening.
Re: Queens birthday Flypast
Hi, On Odiham's Facebook page shows 3 Puma's and 3 Chinook practicing for the flypast earlier this month?
Re: Queens birthday Flypast
Why were there two Voyagers? Will one be accompanied by F-35s and the other something else?

Re: Queens birthday Flypast
Maybe one for each Squadron or perhaps one of the Voyagers was filling in
Re: Queens birthday Flypast
GyVespa. You are partly right. A millionaire, but she is fortunate to have a large house in the Town, and also owns the beach house [not beach hut] that is the last one before the lifeboat station. Lovely lady, sadly lost her husband last year. Regards.
