I just want to post this -

I KNOW that I shall meet my fate
Somewhere among the clouds above;
Those that I fight I do not hate,
Those that I guard I do not love;
My county is Kiltartan Cross,
My countrymen Kiltartan's poor,
No likely end could bring them loss
Or leave them happier than before.
Nor law, nor duty bade me fight,
Nor public men, nor cheering crowds,
A lonely impulse of delight
Drove to this tumult in the clouds;
I balanced all, brought all to mind,
The years to come seemed waste of breath,
A waste of breath the years behind
In balance with this life, this death.

Such a sad time...
Cheers

Since when have the gutterpress ever had any respect for anyone's family?

The difference on here is that we do have respect for aircrew's and their families, so we won't post anything until there is an official announcement by the MOD and family approval.

Just take it as a sign of what paper NOT to buy in the future. :@

Also, don't go clicking over on to their site, it only raises revenue for them...

If that's true and I don't doubt it for a minute I for one will never buy that comic again......echoing all sentiments, they should be ashamed of themselves! :grr:

Can confirm there is a page story in the daily fail, but I would advise caution, the name they have printed isn't the one that was circulating yesterday. They maybe right, but as is always the case in these situations, until the info comes from the MOD directly, take with a huge pinch of salt.

Graham the name they have reported is the name that was leaking out at around 12.00 yesterday,

poor taste and very disrespecful by the mail to publish the name before it being released from the MOD.

Apologies Rich, it wasn't the name I heard yesterday but as your aware there was lots of speculation. Either way, its still disgusting that they quote half of the MOD statement, but miss out the part about the name being withheld for now at the families request.

The Bournemouth Echo was naming the pilot on their website last night too, and I expect it will appear in today's paper.

You'd think they would know better given recent events down here.

The MoD has just announced that all aircraft equipped with the Mk.10 ejector seat have been grounded pending investigations - Hawks, Tornados & Tucanos.

Does the T2 still use the Mark 10? I thought they used a later model, similar to the Typhoons? I remember last time there was a grounding of Mk 10 seats that the T2 still few?

Steve,

I believe the T2 uses a later variant of the Mk.10, one which may not be affected by the same issue under investigation, I suppose?

RIP and my thoughts are with the tragic pilots family & friends, and I hope that the Red Arrows can bounce back from the tragedy of losing 2 pilots in the same calendar year.
A Facebook page? I don't believe it. No unfortunately I do.

Once again I convey my condolences to all those concerned.

Stephen.
It is incredible..i have seen that on FB too and many many people keep using a name,i refuse to mention any name until the MOD makes a statement,all that matters is the family no one else.Well done to all on FC for showing restraint..and respect
