I remember the halcyon days when you could go to Lakenheath and there would be very few people there. But Eagles really do seem to attract spectators plus digital photography and the internet to share your photos instantly. There are always a group hanging around the burger van. I am not complaining, it is what it is.

I would like to get out but there ain't nothing about locally - where are all the numbers!

We ll you join me and my older mates down Folly some Sundays! Yes was like a "normal" spotters day for a while yesterday.Nice to get rust off my shutter finger as opposed to hoping for something over home.To anybody else it's free entertainment and one of very few things open to go to.Would be nice get something decent if we can be allowed to distance etc

Someone I know has travelled to Lakenheath this morning from Nottingham. Not sure how busy it is with spotters?

Someone I know went to Coningsby last Wednesday (not for spotting I might add), the day the restrictions were eased.
The car park was full....

Gents,

I spent a couple of hours up at Wattisham last night in the evening sunshine, completely alone (which I would be, virus or no virus!) and photographed seven Apaches in perfect light, busiest evening I've seen up there for years. Handy living next to a base that nobody else visits...

I drove past Lakenheath on the way to Mildenhall yesterday 19/5 and the Lakenheath viewing carpark looked half full - considering there were no visitors. At Mildenhall I only saw 3 people - 2 I overheard, had shared a car from Wolverhampton!

That was me and my Uncle, I purposely parked quite a bit ahead of you as to respect the distancing rules so you either have very good hearing or my Uncle talks a lil too loudly!

Hi

Couldn't help hearing - I admit it did suprise me a bit - not often you get people from Wolverhampton on a quiet day at Mildenhall - lucky to get the F-35B do a couple of passes. I was there for the P-8 which I thought was due at 15:00 , I had to go back for it when it eventually arrived after 7pm!

To be honest the travelling from the Midlands was something that I'd mulled over since the announcement of unrestricted travel came about. I'd read thread after thread on social media of peoples opinions about the rights and wrongs and eventually decided to go for it. I've spent alot of times around bases, its my happy place and I've missed it big time (Even a quiet base). The social distancing and avoiding people wouldn't really be a problem as I'd been doing that most of my life. We went too Mildenhall, Lakenheath and Marham and the closest I came to anybody all day was that chap that started talking to us at Mildenhall, but he kept an OK distance.

The F-35 pretty much followed us from Marham, I noticed the P-8 on the radar apps when I had gotten home, shame it didn't come in a bit earlier.

I presume that you and your uncle live in the same property, if you traveled in the same car?

Since people are obviously going out spotting now, is the ban on photography still on, and if it is, does it only apply to UK locations?

You can take photos , I took three at Marham today, but if you mean the FC embargo then yes that is still in place. The FC owners will no doubt update the policy in due course.

I checked the other day and photos outside of the UK are permitted hence Zeltweg and the Korean photos

I only saw three people at Marham today and everyone was socially distanced. ( Apologies to the chap I was a bit short with - I was in the middle of trying to see RCH 330 over the top!)
