I've never been there before so just a few questions for you, are there any loos? (Missus will be in tow!). What time do you and the shops open and finally, which side of the road closure are you? From the viewing area, would I go round the west side of the airfield or the east? Many thanks.
Hi there. We and the shops are open from 0900, and yes we have toilet facilities and a few comfy chairs for a sit down and brew. The road closure is not in force now. We are located to the left of the main gate outside the wire and parking available behind the shopping complex next to us.
Many thanks for the reply, looking forward to the trip.
The Heritage centre is a hidden Gem,I recommend anyone when in the area to go to it.

Can anybody advise on the parking and viewing at any of these locations, Boscombe Down, Abbey Wood or Filton. Thank you in advance.

For Boscombe Down the airfield link already provided is a good one, if you wanted a high level view of whole airfield (a bit distant though) then Beacon Hill off A303 is an option.

Trouble with flypasts is you really need direction to plan a good view! That applies to places like Abbey Wood particularly if they are low, there are shopping car parks nearby, the Sainsbury's one is higher ground and might be an option.

Filton, suggest road (lay bys) that run alongside airfield as they may fly more over the Rolls Royce side of the road up to Abbey Wood or opposite depending on route.

Good Luck

It is encouraging to read this thread from the beginning.

RAF Valley reports a flypast will be through their zone at 500'. There is hope of something similar at other sites ??

I also picked up on the wording from MRM, "Tornado FINale..." A reference to the big fin and a drink or to to celebrate. .??

Only one more sleeps to go

Confused of Bedfordshire here. Saw the original tweet from the station boss saying today would be the day that timings would be released but have now seen another one from him saying timings will be released on the day once they've seen what the weather is like.

RAF Lossiemouth's FB page posted in the last half hour that they should be releasing approximate timings today. I would imagine that the on-the-day timings the Station Commander is talking about will be final timings once they've taken into account the forecasts for the day rather than the list of approximate times that should be coming out today.

I've reread the tweet and that's my impression of things too.

Apparently Waddington is 1509 tomorrow, not so sure on the credibility of the source though.....

Thanks for the update, reaper493.

Interesting that they will be going Leuchars --> Tain --> Lossie, as I'd expected Leuchars --> Lossie --> Tain. Hopefully RAF Lossiemouth will release a little more info on the planned direction, height etc. - I'm guessing coming in from the sea running north-to-south then off back to Marham, perhaps?

Disappointed to be missing them over Leuchars - Tain - Lossiemouth but unfortunately I'll be working. Shame it's not Afternoon.

I don't think you can get close to the 19 end, unless its just never been reported here?

Looks fairly wooded according to Google.
