May the skies be clear and blue and the wind fair with a guiding star to steer by.
Re: US Pavehawk Incident - Norfolk
Very sad start to the new year indeed. May they rest in peace.

Just a quick point, having a rant at people who don't share a hobby seems poor form to me.
The concern shown by some for the damage to the environment following the crash is legitimate, and I'm sure is not meant in any way disrespectful to those who lost their lives. You can't possibly extrapolate how a few words of concern posted in isolation to mean what some of you think it may mean.
As for the points about them not knowing the finer details of our hobby not to mention operations/ordnance etc, well, I wouldn't do very well on many other specialist fora either!
Keep it dignified guys?

Re: US Pavehawk Incident - Norfolk
Thought it interesting (BBC TV local news last night) that the 2nd HH-60 that landed on the beach alongside the crash site was still there 5 days later.
Re: US Pavehawk Incident - Norfolk
I believe they didn't want it leaving, and the downwash scattering the wreckage.

Going home ...
The bodies of the four RAF Lakenheath airmen killed in last week’s helicopter crash in North Norfolk will be flown back to America today (Monday, January 13).
Pilots Capt Christopher Stover and Capt Sean Ruane and special mission aviators Sgt Dale Matthews and a SSgt Afton Ponce lost their lives when their HH-60G Pave Hawk plummeted into the marshland during a low-flying training exercise at Cley-next-the-sea on January 7.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Unites States Air Force (USAF) with one theory that the helicopter suffered a bird strike.
Salvage teams are still collecting dozens of rounds of live ammunition left strewn across the ground.
The coffins will be flown from RAF Mildenhall today and official ceremonies will be held in the US.
A USAF spokesman said: “We appreciate the kindness of our community here in the UK.
“From the condolences, to the flowers and cards at our front gate, to the support you’ve given our responders at the site of the accident - we are truly thankful.”
