Post by jackjak92 » Sat Feb 03, 2018 6:14 pm

Just came across this video of a very bouncy landing. Looks to be a tail strike too!

No tail strike. Looking at the runway it is a little undulating. Slightly bouncing, possibility a bit of a crosswind. Other than that nothing much to say. Move along please.
Woody.

It looks like a tail strike to me. There's a tell-tale puff of smoke that looks as though it's coming from the tail and not either of the main gears. It shows up especially well in the slow motion replay at 0:36. Pretty easy to bring the tail into contact with the runway by pitching too far when flaring in a hurry, compounded by the main gear compressing fully on a hard touchdown.

That smoke is from the left main gear. The smoke is disappearing in the dip in the runway and reappearing to give the impression of the tail hitting the runway.
