Re: Mustang crash lands Duxford
Yes wheels up .. so FB reports... pilot ok
Re: Mustang crash lands Duxford
From source near to spot of force landing. Gear was down at point of initial impact and then ripped off.
Credit to the pilot with regards to decision making and airmanship. Best wishes to him.

Re: Mustang crash lands Duxford
Why on earth do we need to know what field it came down in?
The important thing is the pilot is ok and the aircraft has also survived

Some great photos here, Superb flying viewtopic.php?f=19&p=915340&sid=d7c177e ... 78#p915340
Looks like undercarriage not locked and later photos shows the pilot in seconds cycling up the undercarriage for a belly landing.
Hats of to him in the timescale finding a field and getting levelled of from the turn whilst dealing with everything else. Glad it ended with Pilot safe.

The FC post you originally linked worked very early this morning and had some amazing pictures. I've tried again since and it now shows as The requested topic does not exist.Ghost from above wrote:Some great photos here, Superb flying viewtopic.php?f=19&p=915340&sid=d7c177e ... 78#p915340

Does anyone have a way to retrieve the original or maybe someone has the original photo source; Flickr link or similar?

Re: Mustang crash lands Duxford
In fact, the pilot called 'engine failure' over the radio.

Is it just me or would you not expect an aircraft to be transported like this ?
I've seen quite a few ' roadrunners ' usually they are disassembled to a certain degree.

Errrr... they were quite limited as it was in a field!!!! access to tools and equipment and workshop facilities to dismantle etc. to move just across the road were somewhat restricted.........gyvespa wrote:Update.
