A question for those lucky enough to have visited before. What time of year is best to visit with regard to weather conditions ? Last time I went was 15 years ago in March and we had a lot of cloud and mist.

I've been in September, August and February. Heat haze is an issue at all times. But I'd go for late September as it's slightly cooler. Mid summer is 35+ and 90% humidity.

As Alan says heat shimmer seems to be an issue whenever you go to Japan!
I visited Hyakuri in May,November and then February in the last 18 months and had to contend with heat shimmer every time,although the best weather I had was probably in February but it was freakishly warm
for the time of year.
Bare in mind no Eagles based at Hyakuri anymore,,,,just lots of Phantoms ;o)

305th have moved to Nyutabaru with 301st moving to Hyakuri with their F-4`s instead so pretty much Phantom heaven now.
