DIO Procurement Plan

Post by Ghost from above » Sun Oct 02, 2016 7:51 pm

Below released 30/9/16 on .GOV

Gives a few insights into ongoing investment and works in the uk and abroad across the DIO estate up to 2022 including contracts already rewarded and those coming up.

A good flavour of which will be core sites and those they wish to keep and invest in. Versus those they are keeping on a basic stand still maintenance basis

Quite a lot of work to be done at RAF Lakenheath in fact. As it is an RAF base and therefore MOD property it would be down to the owner to pay for any works, but I suspect that the rent would cover it!

Jeez!....Took a squint at the Contracts page. Looking at some of those numbers, I thought it was a Telephone Directory :O
Page 51 featured this stand-out item midway down....
Supply and Delivery of One Thousand High Visibility All Weather Waterproof Jackets /.....MWUK Limited /....17/08/2016 /....£ 135,000.00
For the 'hard of calculating', that's £1350.00 of hard-earned taxed income for each single Jacket? I can get an ARMANI waterproof Hi-viz for a fraction of that!
Having noticed that's the delivered price, I checked Screwfix. Theirs are £19.99 each delivered.
See this http://www.hall-fast.com/safety-at-work ... _IovWYtaUk for a Helly Hansen at £94.50!!!
If this single Contract is anyway indicative of the wastage in Procurement, I could save 10 Billion by tea-time today. :grr:

So what's been going on with the Brunei Garrison that the furniture needs £400K worth of repairs and £500K worth of new?

Have to say, the move of 29 is rather eye opening.

Now, 1,000 means move the decimal place three to the left - that's £1:35 each. Bargain!!!

Still, £135 for something that costs £20 from Screwfix, so probably a tenner from the supplier?!

Of course if 1000 high viz waterproof jackets were purchased for £19.99 each, you'd get everyone moaning that our service personnel were being given cheap rubbish, not fit for purpose .

£135.00 for an all weather high viz waterproof jacket seems pretty good value to me.

If you go to the suppliers website (alexandra.co.uk), a Gore-tex high vis coat is £149.99

As someone who is regularly out in the middle of Bournemouth Airport in all weathers, I wouldn't want to be out on any part of the airfield in something that costs 20 quid from Screwfix Chris!
Cheers

As someone who is regularly out on the ramp at LHR and LGW I'd not be happy with a £20 affair either, however it appears the numerous procurement managers, contract negotiators, executives and indeed experts who are commenting here would suggest differently.....

DIO or MoD do not pay for US construction work. The US pays the money to DIO hence the reason for it showing in here.

Hope that clarifies the picture?
