The first option was only to delay up to a month to get the Granby jet sorted. Or have your money back.

So it's not nothing but a small delay

Either way from seeing the conversation on here and UKAR it could go either way.

£30 Extra to see the Granby jet?
If they get it back to together then I'm sure RIAT will get it.
Plus 2 sqns are at home at the moment,
Will there be once they get the Desert jet ready?(unknown)
You might end up robbing Peter to pay Paul,I would rather get some action in the air,
Got the rest of my life to see them on the ground in museums.

That's just my opinion though.

I'm going for Option 1 on the basis of it's 3 jets now and nothing else or 3 jets in a month plus whatever "non-attendees" might be available then.

Option 2 for me too, no way I can guarantee another date off of work. £20 for a chance to walk round and see some Tonkas in their home environment, plus poss cockpit tour and some ops seems like a bargain.

I will go for Option 2 as well seeing as leave is booked and the hotel booking is non refundable plus it could be my only chance to get on a Tornado base.

I'm tempted to go for option 1 as well.

I'm a little unsure on this as to what would be the better option. If the only real difference between a delayed event and option 2 next week is the pretty pink jet then a £30 premium for it does seem a bit steep particularly when there is a realistic chance of seeing it at RIAT or other events later in the year. I suppose had hoped to see all the specially marked Tornados as well as a few surprise visiting types. However, seems nothing extra has been firmed up as yet. I' certainly wouldn't be upset to pay £20 to spend an evening watching Tornados operating from inside the fence.

There was meant to be a new special tail unveiled at or just before the shoot, last info I got said it had been delayed or wouldn't be ready in time. So if the shoot is postponed depending how long the delay is to the new special, there is a chance that could be there.

I emailed them saying my choice would be option 1 but if the consensus is to go ahead I will still be there

That's exactly what I was thinking last night Gary, was looking to see what the majority were saying on here before replying - I'll go for number 1 first.

Cheers Paul.

Although I'm tempted by option 1 it would have helped if they had given some dates as people will have to get time off work etc. and I'm also conscious of all the people who have booked hotels as well so I'm going to say option 2. Better something now (or rather Thursday) then risking not being able to make a revised date (where things could still be unavailable).

I am going to suggest a hybrid option though. Go ahead with Thursday at the reduced rate of £20 and if\when the other airframes are available arrange a second date for the other £30. Appreciate its double the organisation but once you have the process in place it should be easier to repeat.

if that is the case and there's another special tail being done and we all turn up on Thursday( if Option 2 is selected) only to find out that had we waited a month we'd have had another special to be photographed plus probably the Granby jet as well, then we'll all be spending mega bucks tracking backwards and forwards to Marham in the hope that they might fly just like some of us have with Gold Star. I'm sticking with the re-schedule just in case but I do appreciate some peoples situation regarding work and hotels.

Everyone's situation is different but I've voted #1
When I saw the Granby jet up on jacks, with creaked wings I thought it was doubtful anyway. The intention was always to have more than three jets to photograph and the team want to do this right as it's the first time Marham has done this. The 31sqn is a dead certain either on the pan or hot pit, unless that one breaks as well!

I've gone with option 2, as I have booked the time off work etc etc, and re-booking it all would be a pain in the :grr: ...

However, I did tack on that if the overall consensus was to go for the re-schedule then I would be willing to do that.

The shoot is going ahead, I really thought / hoped it would have been postponed
Dear Enthusiasts,

Thank you for your responses, I am pleased to say that the overall opinion is to go with Option 2 and conduct the day without the Op GRANBY aircraft. I understand some of you may no longer wish to attend, if this is the case please could you inform us soonest and as such you will receive a full refund and I can only apologise for the inconvenience of these unavoidable events. I know all of you will be keen to still photograph the Op GRANBY jet at a future point and wanted you to know that RAF Marham are keen to continue hosting these events and as such your email address will be kept on the distribution list to allow you to be informed of these events.

Yours,

The RAF Marham Enthusiasts Day Team

Looking forward to Thursday (hope the weather forecast improves a little though) as its my first ever base visit  now to figure out what kit to take with me...

Hopefully they will do another day soon with 'Pinkie and the others, as it is a shame we'll not see it, it was good to see the "RAF Marham are keen to continue hosting these events and as such your email address will be kept on the distribution list to allow you to be informed of these events" in the email so fingers crossed :)

Looking forward to a good event. To be honest, i'm surprised that the majority option was to stay with Thursday but luckily for me it's only a very short trip so no real issues for me either way.

I'm sure that the guys at Marham will make it a worthwhile event :)
