Photo towers Hyakuri info?

Post by 32FIS » Wed Oct 07, 2015 7:07 pm

I heard some rumors that the (photo) towers at Hyakuri, Japan are not managed by the old lady anymore. It seems access can be gained now via some local spotters. Some more info anyone?

Thanks,
Ton van Schaik

Hi ton

I was there on the 15th September and the usual "old lady" was present to do the meet and greet.

I have seen others help at times however I doubt that land will ever become managed by a group of local spotters.

I believe its sometimes her son that takes care of things? Could be what someone people have confused for being taken over by someone else.

I met the elderly widow myself about three years ago on my only visit to the Shrine. I appreciate this is a little trivial, but does anyone know her name?

When I went the gate was unlocked and there were a couple of locals already there. They said that they would pass on our entry fees to the owner (which I wholeheartedly believe they did knowing the Japanese!)

I visited for a week back in April this year and accessed the towers on 3 mornings over that period. The very polite 'old girl' was there each morning without problem. I do wonder what will happen with that plot in the future - perhaps her son's will keep it going - I hope so.

FYI, was in there today (Wed 21st Oct), in the words of a song "same as it ever was". The little old lady seemed in fine fettle.
