Sptifire Fire at Humberside

Post by Runner » Tue Apr 07, 2015 9:05 am

Morning folks,

Came across this in the local media:

http://www.scunthorpetelegraph.co.uk/Ic ... story.html

I know Richard Lake has a couple based there; a MKI and a Mk XVI, does anybody have any more info?

It was only believed to be a small fire on start up with Spitfire G-BUOS (SM845) at 17:09, and it flew afterwards.

G-OXVI (TD248) Spitfire. dept 14:47 to East Kirkby/arr back 15:10 for display over airfield/ landed 15:18.
G-BUOS (SM845) Spitfire. dept 14:48 to East Kirkby for display/arr back 15:26.

G-OXVI (TD248) Spitfire and G-BUOS (SM845) request start up 17:09/ problem with G-BUOS, fire vehicle laid a foam blanket.
G-OXVI (TD248) Spitfire. dept 18:07/arr back 18:39.
G-BUOS (SM845) Spitfire. dept 18:08/arr back 18:43.
