If there hadn't been such a backlash from the general public over Gulf War 2 then I'm certain a massive ground offensive would have already been launched by now. Airstrikes can only do so much - we either leave them to it or we do something properly about it.

Totally agree with Steven,

Ground troops and tanks should be used to encircle these scumbags and destroy them. Unfortunately close quarters combat is the only really effective way of erasing this evil group!

With regards to airstrikes, the A-10s are the most effective aircraft to deal with ISIS. ISIS can move away from bombed targets, but they have less chance of moving away from an A-10 strafing them with a burst of 30mm. If things carry on as they are then Special Forces on the ground calling in the A-10s is really the best that can be done to suppress ISIS, although as said above I believe that ground troops are the only way to fully destroy ISIS.

How does anyone put an end to this??? If it was down to me I would up the air campaign and try and push IS into a greater concentration then launch a tactical nuclear strike on them, no one wants to use nuclear weapons but I think this is one instance were all politicians and World leaders really need to wake up and take stock that IS really do threaten the whole World.

The problem is 10 years down the line some other fanatical sect/splinter group will rise and the whole thing starts over.
