Bomber Command Memorial Flypast

Post by paullangford » Wed Jun 27, 2012 10:19 am

Hi All,

Does anybody know what time the flypast is due for the Bomber Command Memorial ceremony on Thurs 28th June ?.

I've read elseware that the flypast is at 12:25, and then routing over RAF Museum Hendon, but I just need that confirming.

Many Thanks

Paul

Just been on the BBMF website. Gives details of route over London. I assume the 5 Tornado GR4s from Marham will follow the same routing

Hi,

These are the details/times I have from the paperwork at work. All times zulu.

The 5 GR4's are due over the Wattisham hold at 11.15z. They then route direct
to Stapleford, eta 11.22z at or below 2,500ft. Next is a direct routeing to Green Park,
eta 11.26z at or below 1,500ft. They then turn north-west to Hendon, eta 11.28z
at 1,500ft then leave to the north-east back to Marham.

The Lancaster's times are Chelmsford 11.11z/1,500ft, then to a point south-east
of Southend at 11.16z after which it follows the Thames to a point just south of
LCY airport eta 11.24z then direct Green Park, eta 11.27z. Lancaster also leaves
via Hendon and to the north back to CBY.

Callsigns expected are Wolf for the GR4's and Memorial for the Lanc.

Both should be working the usual freq. 128.025.

There should also be the usual A109 from Northolt doing a weather check from
10.30-10.45. It might hang around depending on weather for some photos!

Hope this helps. Obviously subject to changes!!

Thanks for the very detailed info Scalp91.

My neighbours brother Arthur, is a chap who was ground crew on Wellingtons during the Second World War.
Needless to say, he's seen many an aircrew go off on a mission and not return.
He's too frail now to make the ceremony in Green Park today, so I thought it might be a good halfway house to take him to Hendon if he wants to.

Thanks to everybody who's contributed above, it is very much appreciated.

Paul
