Red Arrows in The Netherlands

Post by MacksAviation » Sat Sep 17, 2011 12:19 pm

FYI

The Reds have been over at the Dutch Military airshow of Leeuwarden for the last couple of days.

Yesterday they didn't fly at all in the display and today they only did a 4 ship.

This has been due to one of the pilots being unfit to fly.

I haven't found out which pilot was taken ill yet.

Hope they are fit to come back for the Great North Run tomorrow, supposed to be doing a missing man flypast for Jon egging, his wife is running in it I believe.

I hope that they are coming home tonight- I was planning to go and see them recover to Scampton at 1701ish. Is that still their plan? If not, then it'll probably be a waste of time turning up at 1007 tomorrow as well?

If they are all transiting back from Leeuwarden I very much doubt they will do anything apart from fly a direct route to Scampton seeings how they only flew a 4 ship display today !

What is it with you Kurt and Red Arrow ISP's ? :S

Only eight aircraft returning then. Presume one was Red 10/Spare so does that mean there's still an aircraft left behind in Holland or did they only fly out with eight in the first place and a pilot down?

Watching the news this morning it says the Reds are doing a flypast at the start and end of the Great North Run, so from that it sounds like they may have canx the full display today.

Just had a seven ship Reds flypast at the start of the Great North Run today. Nice touch to see Emma Egging starting the race.
