Flight Global - Military fleet analysis

There is an interesting breakdown of global military fleets on the Flight Global website.

No surprise that the US dominates every table, but China and India are coming on apace. Th UK reaches the top ten in total numbers but not for combat aircraft, nor transports for that matter. It is also big on training aircraft, which makes me wonder why the 'sharp end' fleet is not larger than it is? (Lies, damn lies and statistics?). We also get well up the table for special missions planes which I guess includes AWACS, Nimrods, Shadows and Sentinels, perhaps AEW and special missons helicopters too.

A number of sizeable countries don't feature in the top ten for any category, eg most of Western Europe apart from the UK and France.

I wonder where the UK will be in these tables 5 years from now?
