But now the query - I have since read another version of the above, that suggests that N518GA and N522GD are not part of the USAF order, and are going somewhere else instead? Does anyone have any further information on this, or, even better, any clue on what the IDs of the missing 3 airframes might be?

Many thanks

Stuart
The RAAF have a order for 5 airframes under the designation MC-55A "Peregrine" to replace the 2 x AP-3C SIGINT equipped aircraft currently based at Williamtown with 10 Squadron, as yet there is no specific date given for their delivery.
Didn't know the P-3s were at Willytown....
It seems they've been there for quite a while, but the squadron is still officially based in Edinburgh? RAAF seem vague on the details maybe they were there to work alongside the Wegdetails? Regardless they will be replaced soon by the MC-55.
If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

One AP-3C (A9-657) was there for the Williamtown airshow last weekend. No sign of a second one as we took off from Williamtown on Sunday evening. And no sign of any AP-3C's the following Thursday. Tracking on ADSBx seems to show them operating out of Edinburgh during my time down under.

Photo of 5567 marked up with DM tailcode: https://twitter.com/EC37B/status/1640031817167417345
Tailcode was edited in, unfortunately - original image in here: https://theaviationist.com/2023/06/01/ec-37b-update/
Ah, I'd assumed it was edited out of those photos, rather than the other way round :(
It is edited out - you can see the DM tailcode reflected in the puddle in that link.

Just to confuse things, I saw a painted EA-37B at Waco in December wearing the serial 19-587/DM in the tail and 1587 on the nose (so 19-1587?)! It doesn’t fit in with any of the known construction numbers allocated to the type!

I've no idea what that is.

G550 c/ns should start with a 5, not a 1.

It wouldn't be c/n 5587 [N218HF], as that hasn't been anywhere near Waco during December. It usually flies out of Waukesha, near Milwaukee WI.

I've no idea either lol! It's definitely an EA-37B though. Same paint scheme and DM in the tail along with the serial. Not a mispole either because I must have read it off at least 4 times!

5518 (N518GA) was cancelled to Italy in December 2015! Nothing to do with con no 5618/N518GA which is current on the US register and will become a 'military' variant of some sort!
