I can’t wait for this.

Any of you that have Sky for their TV provider can access Apple TV through the apps and they are currently giving Apple TV away free for 6months.

Hope that helps a few of you to watch this when it’s released.

No, nor Hemel Hempstead Town centre or anywhere else used for filming. :P

Even more disappointing than expected!

I watched just the first episode, not impressed.

Take the "I know everything hat off" and watch it for what it is...entertainment. Do that and its pretty good, not a patch on Band of Brothers, but better than the Pacific.

The Pacific was excellent.

Trivia fact - the production crew were given unlimited access to the USAAF archives and the pilots post action logs for the making of this series. The CGI is so accurate that when you see an exterior formation shot, every B-17 they show is in the exact formation position on the day of the actual raid. Not just a digital image of a B-17 - the actual B-17, tail number, nose art the lot. The CGI folk went town with their work. When a B-17 is hit and falls out of position in that formation - it's falling out of the exact position it was in on the day.

So for anyone claiming they know better - you might want to rethink that.

Also the flight jackets were supplied by the superb Eastman Leather Clothing company down in Plymouth. The chap that owns it is one of THE most informed folk in WWII USAAF clothing. His personal archives are mind blowing:

Unfortunately the CGI just doesn't hit the mark in some critical details, the go-around in Greenland, and the wheels-up landing in the first episode alone looked like CGI amateur hour. Stuff like that is really quite off-putting.
You want the Aladeen news, or the Aladeen news?

I remember the crash landing in Memphis Bell... What was left of the Pembroke WV703 at Tattershall Thorpe, formerly on Coningsby dump, and once a star in Chessgame was used for surrogate burning B-17!!

Yes Tony, for 2024 some of the CGI scenes did not really work and made it jarringly difficult to watch in places, with some of the flight dynamics also appearing less than realistic.

I'd rather watch Gerry Anderson's Thunderbirds :P
Everyone has a photographic memory; some just don't have film.

Well, I have watched the first two episodes, and found them thoroughly entertaining !!
But , then again, I am just an aviation enthusiast / photographer , and not an `Armchair expert` , like some people ,and don`t feel the need to criticise everything that doesn`t meet some exacting standards.

I think the term is `Lighten up` !!!

Can`t wait for episode 3.

put it in a different light.
you worked for years and years in CGI to finally be employed in the big time.
you have no interest in aircraft military or otherwise whatsoever
you produce a ww2 film, for the masses
you get torn apart by people who have quite literally spent decades looking at and obsessing over military aircraft, past and present.
considering the producer might not give a damn about military aircraft, they have done a very respectable job.

imagine if anyone of us had to make a scene on the habits of tropical fish, knowing that committed enthusiasts would be watching

*sigh* rant over

I think it's superb. Captures the horror and stress of combat missions and also life at an East Anglian airfield. Yes, the CGI could be better in places, but as a narrative on the Eighth I think it hits the spot.

Also if you've taken out an Apple subscription just for this, have a look at Tom Hanks' other recent movie Greyhound, another CGI epic but edge of the seat stuff.

So tell me. How come the veterans said the opening 20 minutes of Saving Private Ryan were just as real as the day they hit the beach? Or is that all tosh...
