Fire damages Historic Tustin Blimp Hangar

Sadly the Historic MCAS Tustin Number 1 Blimp Hangar caught fire this morning and was extensively damaged

I hope you do not mind me just adding this picture to your post. It is a photograph that I took in 1997 when we had a base tour. It just shows the beautiful construction of in particular of the inside of the hangar.

That's a shame. Incredible structures that I visited on the 18th September 1979. This photo of CH-53A Sea Stallion,153293 of HMH 363, gives an idea of the scale of one (don't know if its the North or South hangar,) when it was still in use as a store for countless US Marine Corps helicopters.
