Isn't there something called "Operation D Day" that been pre planned leading up to her State Funeral in 10 days time, don't know much about it just read it somewhere.
Just found out what D'Day is and that is today the 1st day after the Queens death, Operation Unicorn is the name for her body being moved to Edinburgh.

I thought the King's speech this evening was excellent. Carefully crafted words, warmly and sincerely delivered, with controlled but heartfelt emotion. Words that said everything they needed to, and nothing they didn't. Well said, Sir.

The pain of grief was quite clear in his eyes - at least to me anyway. Regardless of rank or background, it hurts like hell as anyone who has gone through it will know. It is hard enough to deal with in private but the Royal Family has to do so not just in view of the nation but also the rest of the world.

A life of service to others and over such a long period, what a tremendous amount of work was done by the late Queen, i doubt the UK will see the like again.
RIP.

Remembrance is very much an individual gesture.

However one thinks of the afterlife, a crowd of thousands standing in a field silently in thought is a tribute worthy of the late Queen’s life and contribution to civilisation.

As some may know, every officer commissioned into their service receives a commissioning scroll. This is signed by the Monarch, and a senior officer of the service involved. Whilst most scrolls have facsimile signatures, tradition has it that a few are original signatures. Although I was only a VRT(T) officer, I'll look on my scroll with greater fondness, thinking that the signature on mine might be an original.

RIP Ma'am, it was an honour and privilege to serve.

Red-Eye-Knight a heads up that the Queen will be brought down from Balmoral to Edinburgh by road, and it looks like it's via the Forfar Road through Dundee and the Kingsway. A viewing platform (for local dignitaries) has already been set up on one section just opposite the NCR building before the Swallow Hotel roundabout.

Thanks for the update Col Nago it's just down the road from where I live so will definitely be going to pay my respects as her coffin passes.

Just watching on TV the four members of the King's body guard standing vigil over coffin in St Giles' Cathedral Edinburgh.

Quite a moving and sombre scene that doubtless will be repeated at Westminster

The pageantry and traditions really seem to thread together the long history of the Monarchy and provide a window or a peek into long past years when similar vigils and ceremonial events will have taken place.
