Re: Queens birthday Flypast
I would expect the Red Arrows to be the last in the formation so that no other aircraft has to fly through their smoke?
Re: Queens birthday Flypast
From RAF Benson's Facebook page...
Our neighbours might see some unusual activity on the airfield this afternoon. It’s not quite the same as this picture from the Puma 50th formation but there will be several helicopters practising on and near the airfield for Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Flypast.
Re: Queens birthday Flypast
4 Pumas and 3 Chinooks reported flying in formation in the Oxfordshire area.
Re: Queens birthday Flypast
They were calling Vortex combine, the flypasts were 3+3 with Voodoo 4 up above as a photoship today.

Hi,
I am new to this forum.
On the 100th anniversary flypast I went to the London velodrome at Stratford. You get a very good view from here no buildings to block the view,All the aircraft are viewable and photograph able from here. The helicopter formation joins in the Stapleford area, the only problem is the special formation I.e 70 will be distorted like the 100 formation was.Plus there's a coffee shop open and toilets available to the public as well

Hi all. For the RAF 100 I stood on Waterloo Bridge. Good side on view of all aircraft

For the RAF100 I stood in St Jame's Park but you were pretty much under the aircraft.

I was at the Mall, right near the gates of Buckingham Palace for RAF 100. It was incredible.

Working in Blackfriars, I booked an outside seat for lunch at the OXO Tower. Had a fantastic view, and I still get shivers when I think about the spontaneous clapping and standing ovation that happened when the BBMF part came through.
Re: Queens birthday Flypast
I remember watching the coverage on BBC1 and couldn't help but feel for the RAF Personnel on Parade at Buckingham Palace who were unable to look up and watch the Aircraft in the Flypast fly overhead. Mind you most if not all of them see these Aircraft every day at whichever Base they are stationed at.

Re: Queens birthday Flypast
I went to Blackfriars bridge for the 100th and normally do Northolt for the QB flypast but you don't see the helicopters.
Isn't there some discussion that the Queen will be at Windsor this time around or was that speculation?

Re: Queens birthday Flypast
Another newbe here.
Some great info here.
I have a few questions on the rehearsals.
Has anyone gone to Cranwell to watch one of the practice runs. If so any advice.
Am I correct in my understanding that if the first one on the 24th go's well then they will not do another. Also if it is bad weather forecast (rain/ windy ) on the 24th will they do another day instead.
Also how would I find out if the first one on the 24th has not gone well and so they are trying again.
Or maybe answering my own question here but would it just be a case of them having a success at first go and then the notam would be cancelled for the other dates
Thanks

One Year I was at Waddington & wondered why there were so many enthusiasts about & when we asked if there was any thing due someone said it was the rehearsal for the Queen’s Birthday Flypast can’t remember the Year but we quickly went to Coningsby for the BBMF Tour & still made it back (only just) in time to see the rehearsal going over.

From what I can find out the collage building at Cranwell is used as the stand in for Buckingham Palace and so the point at which everything should join up and then Waddington forms part of the dispersal area.
Maybe that was a time when aircraft from Waddington were taking part in the flypast.
