Russian Planes Carry Nukes Into Swedish Airspace

According to the Daily Mail (yes I know before the comments start) 4 Russian aircraft 2 SU-24s & 2 SU-27s took off and entered Swedish airspace, Sweden scrambled 2 Gripens and they took photos which when looked at supposedly showed the 2 SU-24s were carrying nuclear weapons.

Very silly and stupid if they did one wrong move and it could have been WW3 just shows the times we are living in at the moment.

was in Swedish media before the mail... though not sure if it's the Swedish equivalent of the mail. Swedish MoD (or whatever they're called) just confirmed the interception but no details.

The Putin Russian leaders possess nuclear weapons and claim that they will use them. The Western Alliance also have nuclear weapons and have stated that they are unlikely to use them.

Not the brightest move on the part of the Alliance?

I don't ever recall any Su-24s in East Germany and certainly neither of them in Poland or Hungary carrying or even being allocated nukes.

There were two Russian/Soviet Su-24 regiments in East Germany - at Brand and Grossenheim. I certainly saw one at the Grossenheim open day in 1992, although by that time they had moved out to somewhere else (Werneuchen?) and been replaced by Mig-27's.

Since the incident over Gotland the Swedish airforce have been patrolling the Polish border in a North-south direction. Previous patrol area had been the Baltic coast.

Has there been any close up images of the claimed weapons carried by the Su-24 Fencers? Not even the Russians would want an accident to happen by flying live nuclear weapons around. Imagine if there was an accident on take off/landing or even a loss over water? More than likely the Su-24s were carrying training nuclear weapons? An inert shape to simulate for the armourers and the aircrews. The Russians have recently put their nuclear forces on higher alert.
