Re: Enemies jam RAF planes GPS
Another news source suggesting that it could only be Russian technology. An A400 airframe was affected after take off. Plenty of Russian nationals living, working and holidaying in Cyprus, particularly in and around Limassol.

This NOTAM has been in force since March 2018. Yes, you read that right, three years ago.
Well done to whoeer dug it up and rehashed it as a new story!

E) RECENTLY, GPS SIGNAL INTERRUPTIONS HAVE BEEN REPORTED BY THE PILOTS OF THE AIRCRAFT OPERATING WITHIN SOME PARTS OF NICOSIA FIR. AIRCRAFT OPERATORS OPERATING WITHIN NICOSIA FIR ARE ADVISED TO EXERCISE CAUTION.
Re: Enemies jam RAF planes GPS
Exactly EGVP I remember reading this several years back. Also as much as the thread title/reports are rather insular and suggest RAF aircraft have been "jammed" that doesn't show a knowledge of the system. The signal is jammed, affecting all aircraft/systems in the affected area that use GPS, not just RAF aircraft.
Re: Enemies jam RAF planes GPS
That NOTAM has been replaced by this one from 2020, which is still in force
A0211/20 - GPS SIGNAL INTERRUPTIONS HAVE BEEN REPORTED WITHIN NICOSIA FIR.
PILOTS ARE REQUESTED TO PROMPTLY REPORT TO ATC ANY GPS SIGNAL INTERRUPTION EXPERIENCED.
11 FEB 12:30 2020 UNTIL PERM.

Re: Enemies jam RAF planes GPS
Perhaps the "jamming" signal can be turned on and off, and is only being turned on when only a specific, chosen aircraft is within its range?Agent K wrote: ↑Fri Mar 19, 2021 5:14 pmExactly EGVP I remember reading this several years back. Re: Enemies jam RAF planes GPS
Maybe it’s got nothing to do with jamming, and it’s just a poor and unreliable signal area?
Re: Enemies jam RAF planes GPS
yeah, all those trees blocking the multiple satellite signals in the air

We also interfere with GPS and have the capability to do the same ourselves.
Example is here

Difference being we usually pre warn...

NOTAM for jam testing on Salisbury today, GPS that is, not strawberry.
Re: Enemies jam RAF planes GPS
No, just reading NOTAMs
Re: Enemies jam RAF planes GPS
The issue was i think back in 2018 with the European galileo system coming on line.
The notams for the jamming of gps could be testing systems if the EU turn off galileo and we are left with gps and glonass.
Gps as never been the best. Glonass was more accurate. And the new EU galileo system is very good.
Be intresting to see if these new notams exercises have any relation to the EU blocking galileo.
Brexit is a severe party pooper to celebrations surrounding completion of the Galileo system. Various stations for communication with the satellites are located in the UK, and British researchers and companies have also made a major contribution to the development of Galileo. What's more, the receivers for the encrypted high-accuracy signal are being developed in the UK.
The discord between the EU and the UK revolves around access to that signal. The EU argues that only EU member states should have access to the signal, and that countries are either a member state of the EU or they are not. At the same time, the UK is claiming its contribution to the Galileo project, also in financial terms. As this is just one of the many squabbles surrounding Brexit, it's anybody's guess as to what the final solution will be.

Re: Enemies jam RAF planes GPS
With the current shooting themselves in the foot tendency by the EU, the final solution, and hopefully near term one, will be the implosion of the EU.
Re: Enemies jam RAF planes GPS
Final solution? where have I heard that reference before.......... and given the collapse of UK trade and future collapse of industries sold false promises of sunlit uplands (for example over 40% reduction in exports to the EU, drowning in cost of red tape) the EU future has never been more secure, which sounds out very much what I hear from my extensive recent travels around Europe and working for a European company.
Re: Enemies jam RAF planes GPS
Believe your own propaganda if you wish. The only thing that should be secure is the facility where they lock up von der Leyen, who is killing thousands with her vaccine saga.Agent K wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 12:21 pmFinal solution? where have I heard that reference before.......... and given the collapse of UK trade and future collapse of industries sold false promises of sunlit uplands (for example over 40% reduction in exports to the EU, drowning in cost of red tape) the EU future has never been more secure, which sounds out very much what I hear from my extensive recent travels around Europe and working for a European company.
Re: Enemies jam RAF planes GPS
It's actually fact, not propoganda, it's quite easy to check if you have the skills/intelligence.... as opposed to your propoganda and your scary obsession with the EU, you're free, £350M a week is now going to the NHS, funding their great pay rise, there is no internal bordar with NI, red tape has gone............. etc. etc. zzzzzzzzzz..............Rugbyref wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 4:51 pmBelieve your own propaganda if you wish.
