Fairford its not a toilet!

Post by GaryS » Tue Mar 09, 2021 6:47 pm

An official message from the Chairman of Marston Meysey Parish Council via my link with RAF Fairford/USAF community relations. Just to note I spoke with an airbase official yesterday and they are very unhappy with the situation. This should however be taken as a time to improve relations to help secure positive future relationships and opportunities. Let's please all do our bit.

- Our community would like to appeal to all of the plane spotting community to keep a watchful eye out for any of their members who sees fit to defecate in or around our shared communities of RAF Fairford and Marston Meysey. Evidence of this practice has been witnessed by residents and not only is it quite disgusting and should never been tolerated let alone countenanced, given we are all in the midst of a global Covid19 pandemic the threat to public health from this sort of behaviour is immense. The good reputation of the plane spotting community is seriously at risk amongst local residents and we would greatly appreciate that this, along with all littering in general, ceases for everyone’s mutual benefit forthwith.

Yours sincerely,

Andy Payne
Chair Marston Meysey Parish Council

That's disgraceful, maybe you should also post this in the Fairford section?

I'd update your sources personally as this circulation is coming up to a year old.

Maybe so but no harm in highlighting it. We're still in lockdown and people are still going out and about. Undoubtedly there are some who find it necessary to continue their vile and disgusting behaviour.

That's true.

You could put up a neon sign stating the same, but if someone feels comfortable enough crapping in a front garden, then this person is so immoral it's impossible to tell them otherwise.

and who is to say that it’s a spotter(s) anyway! There are an awful lot of people who like to venture out to airfields nowadays because it’s something to do! Why do people always assume that it’s a spotter that is causing the problems.

Well maybe it is or maybe it’s not, what I know is as the base ramps up for BTF deployments the general rubbish that is seen around the base increases even before the main event, before joe public even knows something is happening or even cares to venture out. Also where most of the rubbish is, in fact I would say all of it is the place’s joe does not even know about or go.

Has happened at Waddington WAVE a few times - and they have a loo....

Wonder if it's the same phantom dirty spotter?

Someone left their log behind at the 24 forest entrance last year.

Many years ago spotting from a car park at LHR, I pressed the lift button and hey presto when the doors opened I saw a large fresh human turd on the floor.

I took the stairs instead!

This happened last September during the B52 deployment, it was made public to all the local enthusiasts then, I spoke to Andy at the time about this and tbf the resident in question only suspected this had actually happened let alone whether it had anything to do with a local or not local enthusiast.

I find it funny that when this sort of thing happens, it's never aviation enthusiasts involved.
Maybe if those present in future (or now) who see such things taking place, they should photo it and post it.

Indeed. Worth getting a pic of their numberplate if they've got a car and leave a present on their doorstep, see how they like it then. Or in their exhaust pipe, a la the royle family.

Tbh. I've got loads of Crap photo's taken a numerous airfields, but none of the 2 kilo' curl-outs you're referring to! ;)
I would certainly like to see a picture of the 'Phantom' visiting any of the Bases mentioned?
I'm okay with the photo bit, but I shudder to think what Royal Mail will charge to post it! :O
