Well said,Bollo!

That sounds more certain! I’m not so sure it’s people thinking they know something different, I know (from 35 years in the aerospace and aviation business) you listen to what isn’t said as often therein lies the truth itself.

I wonder whom you could mean, Nighthawke

Presumably with mildenhall now remaining open the KC46's which will eventually replace the KC-135's will now operate out of Mildenhall and not Ramstein? Seems Mildenhalls future is looking brighter and longer everyday. As for the Rivert Joints we will just have to wait and see.

Any plans for or chatter about a runway extension past John!s field? Neighbours are usually notified of contiguous planning applications. The public road might also need to be moved. It would solve the RC135 's fuel problem, save money, be a general plane enhancement and be quieter. There would need to be preliminary survey work. It might also mean the RCs stay.
If a planning application is on other peoples land you are required to have notified them.

Just out of interest, why would they go to all that effort at Mildenhall to lengthen the Runway which involves buying land moving roads , planning permission , moving the base perimeter etc, that would cost more than moving them to Fairford When all they have to do there is harden the overuns. Maybe that’s why they are slated to still be moving, then again why do any of that if the tankers will still be at Mildenhall?

If the OP - Scuba 1 - is still around he/she should have that honour on this mammoth thread with a happy ending ( assuming you don't mind F-35As at Lakenheath)

Will "Lakenheath...get F-35 by 2020"?
If they don't then I think Scuba 1 set this whole thread up as click-bait!
Actually Mildenhall will close - in the same way that eventually we all die - so there is some truth hidden in this topic!

I take it you have worked within aviation publishing Cranberry? Unlike the lucky few on here.
The USAF announced they (the 48th FW) were going to start getting F-35s from 2020, some years back. But even they can't have foreseen a train crash like COVID 19 hitting the F-35 production schedule...
I quite expect a sarky comment from Supra about Wally waving or something. Oh deary me sorry were was I..... working on all Aerospace Publishing's products from 1991 to 1999 The other non aviation but still military stuff was even more fun... Oh and again from 2008 to 2012, with a spell of book writing at an aviation magazine company in Stamford.
PS where is Wally
