360 Radar .co.uk Settings

Post by F1inshot » Mon Aug 03, 2020 9:57 am

I have been a subscriber to 360Rdar.co.uk for about a year and I have noticed that I have never seen any F-15’s, is it my setting or is it that they just do not appear. I have Military filter applied and server set to any aircraft. I have seen other USAF such as Hercules and Asprey but no F-15’s. All the RAF aircraft show apart from the Reds. Any advice welcome.

They don’t appear on ADSB either because they leave tier transponders off, unless something has gone wrong. The same applies to Lossiemouth Typhoons.

The transponder is on but they use Mode A and C more than Mode S which 360radar etc use.

Some Lossiemouth Typhoons appear most weekdays. However, it does appear that less than half of the Typhoon fleet has the equipment yet...

Surface to air missiles?

But if you mean from 360Radar, etc then you can't.

Everyone has a photographic memory; some just don't have film.

To get rid or either Juno/ Jupiter helicopter or Tutor/ Prefect do this…

In 360 click on MENU > OPTIONS > FILTERS, from the drop down menu, select MODEL CODE, then click on +ADD FILTER.

Then in the next dropdown menu select “DOES NOT CONTAIN” and in the dialogue box type in EC1 (for Juno/ Jupiter) or G1 (for Tutor/ Prefect) then they will vanish once you click on the x to close the box.
If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

Is there a tracker available to track F-15's?

As F15's use Mode C only ATC can see them.

They do appear from time to time on 360 radar but only ever the odd 1 or 2. I had one on there last week but it's the first I've seen for a good while. They did used to crop up a bit more frequently but as other posters have said mode s tends to be turned off it seems.

I live in Norwich so if I want to see F-15's I look skywards when I hear them!

Generally speaking (from speaking to some 494 FS Strike Eagle drivers last year on a base visit) the key areas to see them training (on land anyway) are the East Anglia Military Training Area (basically the sky above Norfolk), the Vale of York, North Wales, Lake District & Northern Scotland (the latter 3 for lower level stuff) & they generally transit through the usual radar corridors (Westcott, Daventry etc.) at fairly high altitude (they don't like transiting at low level because it uses too much fuel - that from one of the pilots).

If you live in any of those areas you'll see them fairly regularly without the need for 360 radar.

Happy Eagle spotting :)

I tend to filter as follows
Callsign does not start with SYS
Model code does not start with G1
Will hide the majority of the grobs and Shawbs helis.

Have a look at planeplotter, there is a facility for data contributors to see mode C, I’m working on a raspberry pi setup to see the U2 which also only transmits mode C. ZeroGravity on this forum sometimes posts tracking data of mode C in Fairford section.

Of course then it depends if there is a planeplotter user in Norfolk Receiving and sharing the data. I think there is a possibility to get a trial period for mode c So you could check.
