He was formerley a Cameraman for Anglia Television and had one or two good tales to tell. He also had a few photographs published in BARG and the R.Archer USAF publication. RIP.Paul

Great man, new him well, He was very good with the camera and had a huge collection of Military aircraft photos taken in black and white which he developed himself. I remember him putting a few of his 1600E Cortina,s in ditches on the way to Alconbury.

Meet Paul years ago at Yuma we just chatted and I was like a sponge listening to him teaching me a few tricks on how to take better pictures. Really did enjoy it when he stayed at the house one year. And looking for a place to repair the seat on his rental that some how got burnt. And when I was in the UK we meet again at the health and hall a few times

God speed and blue skies

Paul you will be missed

I met Paul for the first time at Rhein-Main AB in the late sixties. Since then we met regularly either on the Continent or in the UK. The last time we met was during the, by Bob Archer organised, memorial day for Chris Russell where Paul spoke passionately about his Stearmans. A very nice guy passed away.

R.I.P. Paul.

Sorry to hear of Paul's passing. Also met him many times at "The Hall" during early seventies. Great guy, and as already said by many people, had a few tales to tell. R.I.P.

Sad news indeed. I like many new Paul for a good number of years, always helpful on passing on his photographic knowledge. His collection of images from Mildenhall in the early seventies in black and white were outstanding.

I met him perhaps two or three times during the 1980s, probably at Mildenhall's 'mound' and especially at JKH drainage products rejects mound where I had pointed out some visiting KC-135s were carrying new unit badges on their sashes. Being the affable person he was he didn't swear, just raised his eyebrows and said words to the effect "have I to start taking pictures of them all over again?" As your other correspondents have suggested he'd got them all in BnW.
A gentleman.

I met Paul several times in the mid eighties when we use to travel upto East Anglia from Somerset for a long weekend spotting. I will always remember him speeding into the farmers track at the back of Bentwaters in his 1600E ,jumping out and asking if we had any spanners and also at Coningsby where he had been down to the Mound to take some photos and on his return to the Car Park asked "Anyone what some Tornado Codes"
God Bless Paul

Sad to hear of Paul’s passing. I recall chatting to him up on the mound a few years back and listening in awe as he told me about all the rare ‘135s he’d seen and photographed over the years at Mildenhall - things like the Rivet Dandy RC-135T 55-3121.
He was also a master of all things Stearman of course.

Another of the Iconic photographers of the Cold War era gone to the viewing area above the clouds. Met him again, after a long break, during the summer up on the Lakenheath heath viewing area. A real aviation enthusiast with no shortage of stories or help for others. RIP Paul.

Very sorry to hear about Paul. As a regular visitor to Mildenhall since the 80s I would probably know his face. Does anyone have a photo?

Godbless you. RIP.

That is a very good point Gareth. I often wonder if I knew the person being referred to in the "obituary".
I did know Paul so not relevant in this case, so very sad to hear of his passing.
