You wouldn't necessarily expect that, depends on what the requriement is and what the design is. Comprimises happen in every design. Slower aircraft have replaced faster ones in the past. Absolute speed isn't critical, whereas range, supercruise, weapons carrying capability, low observability etc. etc. are also important.James Cutting wrote: ↑Thu Jan 24, 2019 2:24 pmF-35B can go to 1,976 km/h which is 1,227 m/ph, equating to Mach 1.6
So faster than the Tornado, which makes sense (You'd expect the newest jet to be much faster than the older GR4).
Did you know that registration to Fighter Control is completely free and brings you lots of added features? Find out more....

Re: Tornado/F35/Typhoon
Or is it the Lossiemouth birds on exercise with US at China Lake?
Re: Tornado/F35/Typhoon
Considering the #903EAW hashtag I'd suggest that it's on operations...

This may be of interest, perhaps? It's based on the video posted by Justin Reuter and gives a bit of background, and some stills.

It’s an account of the Typhoon’s first operational mission on Op Shader carrying MBDA’s Brimstone 2 missile – an extraordinarily effective weapons whose precision and small warhead allows attacks against fleeting targets in crowded areas without causing massive collateral damage.
