They will be running East to West up the Royal Mile to the castle and then they will turn left direct PIK. They will not be landing at Edinburgh.

Seen a NOTAM somewhere on Facebook- departing Prestwick to transit to Cardiff around 1345 Saturday, hope that helps working out the Edinburgh timings

Are the Reds still coming over Edinburgh? Just saw another post on this forum saying they have dropped EDI from schedule. Can anyone clarify what is happening is Edinburgh still happening?

Assume Edinburgh cancelled?

Heard them briefly on the scanner talking to Edinburgh on 121.2, then nothing.

Interesting to hear how the weather is in other Flypast locations, won’t be fair if Edinburgh is the only cancelled Flypast today.

The USN P8 flypast at Belfast was canx because of the weather.

But let’s not lose sight of the fact that today is to remember the sacrifices of hundreds of thousands of people 75+ years ago so that we can live the life we live today, the fact that 9 wee red planes couldn’t do a flypast because of the weather is irrelevant.

I feel this flypast had nothing to do with VJ Day in any respect as far as veterans, their relatives or the general public were concerned. Did it go via or near any memorials? Did it go via or near any VJ civil or religious VJ services? Did it add to aircrew flying hours so they could stay current and also incorporate the stipulated number of briefs and planning sessions crews have to do?

The weather is always a problem. August up in Edinburgh, we usually get flypasts for the Tattoo. Anyone know if there has been a year gone by when every scheduled Tattoo flypast was conducted or one or two cancelled due to weather? - I use that as an example. We all fully understand that the safety of the pilots comes first.

Sure, I'm disappointed - today may well have been our only opportunity to see the Reds over Edinburgh with no Tattoo or Airshow(s) this year - but that aside, doesn't make us any different to anywhere else in the UK - they get bad weather too.

The Reds were up, they were in the area. It was the weather that put paid to the flypast. Was nice even just to hear them on the scanner though.🙂
