Jeez can`t even get an F-35 north of the border for a flypast.

Cheers Stu! Will be filming the flypasts, subject to weather! They're getting very sparse these days.
Well that's PLANE to see!

Can’t believe the RAF F-35Bs have never been up to Lossie yet! Or even low level over South/ Borders or even the Highlands.

Would I be right 2016 the two which flew over Rosyth then disappeared South again is F-35Bs only visit to Scotland so far?

Unknown74, you are spot on. Unless you count overflying for deliveries to UK and Dutch air stations. I was hoping to see the line up for East fortune this year include a skip,,maybe next year! You would have thought a skip or 2 would be included in flypasts for the tattoo!

Very true Dex P. I'm also surprised about East Fortune and for that matter Sunderland being the same day could have done Flypasts at both at once. Even we weren't kept waiting for the Typhoon think it was their first year of service there were at least 2 (I think) performing Tattoo Flypasts. Maybe it's the single engine issue like the Harrier not being allowed over London for the Queens Birthday Flypast.

Unknown74,Oh yes, East Fortune,"Call off Central!" I had the camera rolling as the Typhoon was running in to start the display, then he announced the visibility was a major problem and he was aborting the display, returning to Newcastle to burn up fuel and then land at the airport. I discussed this with Stu via text message, and we both agreed it was becoming a regular theme in recent years. I wonder if there would be any value in writing to NMS and asking if they could select a different month or week? That may come from higher up the chain of command,so who knows?! I'm not sure about the single engine being an issue as Hawks are in the flypast,so I wouldn't know the reason behind not having an F-35 take part. My guess is possibly due to financial costs and availability?

Our F35B's have not and will not be doing low level sorties. The aircraft is not required to do this operationally.

What's the point in changing the week? We had absolute scorching weather the whole week leading up to the airshow, it's just bad luck. I'm sure that luck will change soon.

Urgent question - Can anyone confirm that the first Flypast is Saturday, not Tonight? Just I don’t want to miss it.

Two Hawks arrived at Lossie today so possibly one will be providing flypast tomorrow.

According to the Tattoo website the performance starts at 7.15 tomorrow - which is a change to previous years . As you know the flypast opens the show so aim for then.
Also - the NOTAM schedule shows 1805 to 1830 GMT so general rule of thumb is to aim halfway for time over the Castle.

Is it likely Leeming Hawk T.1s or Valley T.2s tonight?

I would have thought Leeming was more likely but as previous post notes 2 landed at Lossie yesterday so it could well be them as they head home to wherever. But then who knows?? It might not even be Hawks tonight

I can believe it! Lossie seems to be the ar*e end of the world as far as the MoD is concerned lately. Some weekdays I find myself wondering if the base is actually open!
