Re: Tattoo Flypasts 2012
The callsigns would normally be Jedi11 and Jedi12. Although they did use just venom 1 to 5 for the flypast around Scotland for Armed Forces Day. That is the only time I have heard single digit callsigns.

as a wee postcript to the Jedi saga, whilst initial contact with Edinburgh they used the c/s Jedi 1 & 2. On a controller change just prior to the run in he called Jedi 11 / 12 and they stuck to that c/s thereafter.....

A couple of other forums are saying that it should be 2 x Typhoons & 2 x Tornadoes as originally planned.marksergeant wrote:Does anyone know uf it's still the 4jets on the fly past tonight if not what jets are on the fly past tonight?
Re: Tattoo Flypasts 2012
Its a pity Mark - general reckoning is that they were still on - but obviously not. I went to Portobello to watch tonight. Venom 51 did the pass and Venom 52 was the spare and stayed in the hold at North Berwick. 51 was doing circuits over the Forth around Aberlady / Musselburgh before the run in which was quite good to see. As far as I know thats the last flypast of this years Tattoo. Ive not seen any update to the NOTAMS extending them to the end of the Tattoo on 25/8. Unless of course anyone reading this knows better?

Re: Tattoo Flypasts 2012
It was still on as 3 typhoons(venom 51, 52, 53) launched around 8.15. Venom 53 was up first to check the weather but there was already talk of a possible "scrub" due to weather before he left the ground. So, thankfully these idiots that complained were not the reason. However, there wasn't any talk of tornados at all. It may have just ended up as a 2 ship plan instead of a 4.
Re: Tattoo Flypasts 2012
Thats very good to know - its a pity the 2 ship didnt go ahead though as that would have been really nice and also consistent with the 2 hawks on the previous nights this week. Never mind - theres always next yearbalamorybuzzed wrote:It was still on as 3 typhoons(venom 51, 52, 53) launched around 8.15. Re: Tattoo Flypasts 2012
Afternoon all,
not sure if this is Tattoo related or just a photo sortie, but there has been a pair of 6Sqn Typhoons in formation with one of the 100Sqn '95Years' schemed Hawks' flying low over Dunfermline/The Bridges/River Forth around 1700 this eve. They appeared to do two circuits before heading off, possibly back to Leuchars.
B.Regards Tony.

Shock and Pleasant Surprise!
Four ship tonight. Was not looking out so not the best view.
I heard the noise, "I didn't know what was going to happen next!"

Yes Yes and yes, 2 Typhoons and 2 Tornado GR.4s same formation as last time - callsign Psycho 51 Flight.

I blinking well missed it - Grrrrrrr!. This is what was scheduled for last night. The BIG question now is - what, if anything, will happen tomorrow night?
Re: Tattoo Flypasts 2012
Probably nothing, because I've got the night off.stu5748 wrote: The BIG question now is - what, if anything, will happen tomorrow night?

Indeed Tony, it was a photoshoot over bridges, then they returned for couple circuits above Leuchars, St Andrews and golf courses for more pics then a split of formation. Typhoons went off to Lossie for a pairs approach and the hawk elsewhere.Leucharsbox wrote:Afternoon all,

Hi folks,
I've just joined the form and this is my virgin post! I'm going to be down North Berwick area tonight (Fri) and wondering if anyone knows what time the flypast is scheduled for? ie what time the planes will be in holding patern over N Berwick area?
Scottie

Fantastic - Thanks Mikey!
I'm new to all this spotting stuff - but I stay in East Lothian and near what seems to a be a route for craft coming out Leuchars and heading down Sutra direction. Hopefully I'll be able to post some info on the goings on in future
