Edinburgh military tattoo flypasts 2025
Edinburgh military tattoo flypasts 2025
Getting this one in early doors, Reds flypast on the 9th August!
Start getting the happy sensations going!
Well that's PLANE to see!
Re: Edinburgh military tattoo flypasts 2025
I see we have this Years call for these Flypasts to be stopped, this Year it’s an Edinburgh Green Councillor by the name of Heap…..
Re: Edinburgh military tattoo flypasts 2025
Councillor Heap's annual attempt to get his name in the papers. His proposal is being put to the full City of Edinburgh Council on, of all dates, the 8th of May!!!
Let's hope it gets "bombed out". Many people go to the numerous vantage points in and around Edinburgh to watch these flypasts, significantly more than care about what Councillor Heap thinks. Apart from The Red Arrows, here's hoping for Typhoons and even F35Bs in the programme.

Ah that's interesting Aly Bally has it been Councillor Heap all the time attempting this? Don't want to say any more as the Moderators might not like what I say.....

Re: Edinburgh military tattoo flypasts 2025
To be honest, and, speaking as someone who lives in Edinburgh, I really couldn't care less about the flypasts. Nothing I haven't seen before many times.
I'm sure many people do enjoy them. That's fine by me but, personally, I wouldn't miss them a bit.
For what it's worth, I think Councillor Heap is
nothing more than a publicity seeking fruitcake. This proposal is a shocking waste of council time which should be spent dealing with real issues.
I suspect this annual silly nonsense of his will simply end up on a Heap....!

These greens are needing some roundup sprayed about them! The sooner they're withered, the better! The only greens that should be visible in Edinburgh are, general vegetation, and Hibs.(I say that as a Jambo).Aly Bally wrote: ↑Tue May 06, 2025 11:53 amCouncillor Heap's annual attempt to get his name in the papers. Edinburgh Council is trying to ban Flypasts
As reported on the local radio news one of the Green councillors on Edinburgh council is trying to get the tattoo flypasts banned as it does not agree with their net zero ambitions
By Councillor Heap - Public Entertainment Licences (Aircraft flypasts)
By Councillor Heap - Public Entertainment Licences (Aircraft flypasts)
“Council notes:
1) That some events in the city involve aircraft flypasts, often at low altitude.
2) That many people find such events entertaining, though others may experience the flypasts as a nuisance, or distressing.
3) Also that allowing events with polluting flypasts performed purely for entertainment is not compatible with the city's Net Zero targets.
Council therefore agrees:
4) A report by the first Full Council meeting after summer recess exploring the methods by which the Council could stop aircraft displays including, but not limited, to the attachment of a condition to public entertainment licences.
5) "Aircraft displays" includes aircraft powered by fossil fuels, including jet; turboprop and helicopter aircraft, but does include drones nor model aircraft.”

Councillor Heap has agreed to carry out his own flypast - a hot air balloon.

A Green Bafoon in a Balloon….
Re: Edinburgh military tattoo flypasts 2025
Flypasts will go ahead as planned, though Tattoo will look into a reporting system residents can tap into in order to know when they are happening (I suppose not everyone bothers to search the Tattoo site's news page), along with potentially increasing the altitude (to make a noticeable difference, they'd probably have to be 5000ft plus higher, negating the whole point, as well as spoiling the view and photography from Arthur's Seat & Calton Hill).
