I'd like to think there will be a flypast tonight, considering who the Salute Taker is.

If it were a Ryanair 737 doing the flypast Michael O'Leary would charge the passengers extra for being part of theTattoo.
So true! And despite being Tattoo performers, he'd still land the plane at 'Edinburgh (Lerwick)' Airport

Interesting should it not be a little more than a Poseidon, like it being escorted by a couple of Typhoons?

Thanks Mike. Weather so far is reasonable. Easterly wind and Runway 6 in operation. Will update when I'm there.
Not sure if I'll make it in time, but I'm going to try to get to Crash Gate 6. If you see a cyclist with a camera, feel free to say hi. :)

Nae bother! If you see a red Ford C Max, I'll be around more than likely at the mound by crash gate 6! :thumb:
Well that's PLANE to see!

Well, he skirted the Southern perimeter of Edinburgh airport, so caught him,,,,only just! Then sharp turn and off up 3000ft over Balerno /Ravelrig, dodged off and powered up a bit as he asked for 7000ft climb.
Well that's PLANE to see!

Caught a glimpse of the strobes as it started to turn south. A bolt to the other side of the house to glimpse it as it took the on ramp to the A720 at Baberton. ;)

Caught it at the Castle. On burner again, but shut it down as he cleared the Castle & was about to cross Lothian Road .👍

Prior to the flypast, I'm sure I heard him ask to climb to 31,000 feet for the transit home, which was approved. Did hear him cleared to 3,000 feet just after the flypast.

Edited to add, just remembered in all the excitement, I heard another roar about 20 - 30 seconds after the flypast, & No - it didn't come from Tynecastle, it was definitely an aircraft.

Does anyone know how many more flypasts we still have for the Tattoo this year, one list I see has 2 one for tonight and one for 25th August where as another has one for tonight 18th August and that is is last one.

Well, the Tattoo's FAQ, which I originally quoted was updated with the list of expected aircraft and still lists the 25th.
Will there be flyovers in 2023?

This year’s lead service is the Royal Air Force, and we are delighted that they have confirmed several flyovers.

The expected flyover dates and times for our 2023 show are as follows:

4 August 2023: 21:30 (2 x Typhoons 1 x A400)
5 August 2023: 18:15 (A400)
9 August 2023: 21:30 (2 x Typhoons 1 x A400)
12 August 2023: 18:15 (The Red Arrows)
12 August 2023: 21:30 (2 x Typhoons 1 x A400)
17 August 2023: 21:30 (Poseidon Maritime Patrol Aircraft)
25 August 2023: 21:30 (2 x Typhoons)
All scheduled flyovers are subject to change based on operational demands and weather conditions.
With the last night being the 26th, I'd be incredibly surprised if the whole of the final week was without a single flypast.

I didn't see this until I got back home unfortunately. Another time, hopefully! I made it onto the mound with about 5 or 6 minutes to spare but only heard it go by the airport - I didn't have a view of the start of runway 24 from my position. With 06 being operational, I wasn't surprised it didn't overfly the airport. Too dark anyway.

Are we due a flypast tonight? Also I totally agree with 109sqn I too would be surprised with the RAF being lead Service that there isn't another flypast before the scheduled next one on the 26th.
