Guess it's XR808? Which has been circling for a while, showing on PP as Ascot (RRR)870. Glad I got to see it at Waddington if it is

The crew at Yeovilton said there were quite a few options, outstanding items to be resolved and the whole delivery to Cosford is very fluid at the moment.

It has also been suggested that the weather would play a factor to the actual day of delivery, as a head wind was preferred - this didn't come via the aircrew but via someone that works at Cosford, so it simply could be a rumour.

If Scarecrow warns you of wind - it's best to heed - trust me! :D

I was at Cosford today and asked the question, it seems they don't have much idea on arrival dates/times at the moment, so who can tell.
Cheers

If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

Morton66

Thats interesting as the guy from 101 Sqn I spoke to said the exact opposite about roading it. Mainly due to the smaller roads around Bruntingthorpe, and that its a big aircraft, also the MoD got stung over when they got the bills for moving stuff out of Lyneham by road.

I guess time will tell, however he did say that if went to Bruntingthorpe it would be gonig the same way as everyone except the K.4 :(

The VC10 is due to arrive on Thursday at 9.30am.

It will be landing on runway 06 coming in over Shifnal.

Gutted that I can't get there, I'll be on way to Fairford.

Cheers

Ok', I don't get to visit airfields much these days, and I'm not into pics, but just had a chat with someone who works with VC10,s he has just told me Monday afternoon the last K1? will attempt to land at Cosford, and the runway length was part of the chat. Im no expert but I would call this guy a very reliable source, but you have to accept these plans change so don't shoot the messenger If it doesn't happen. :D

No surprise really, hear it takes several attempts to get it off the deck without something failing on it.

GJD aircraft salvage and decommissioning services working out of Bruntingthorpe, they have the contract that has dismantled the VC10's so far.
cheak out the bellow website, if you click on the facilities tab you will see four VC10's awaiting their doom!
