Plymouth Armed Forces Day

Post by d555 » Thu Jun 26, 2014 9:40 pm

On Sat. 28-06-14 this event is being held around the Hoe area in Plymouth. There are no ground exhibits (aircraft wise) and just a few flying displays as follows...

1pm - Sea King Search and Rescue Display - arriving from HMS Culdrose, Cornwall, the crew will demonstrate a rescue operation in the Plymouth Sound.

1.20pm - Tutor Flying Display – A stunning sequence of vertical drops, barrel roles and spins

1.30pm - Rolls-Royce spitfire display

4.30pm - Breitling Wing Walker display over Plymouth Sound - Performing a breath-taking sequence of acrobatic manoeuvres and handstands whilst strapped to the top wings of the team's beautiful Boeing Stearman biplanes.

4.50pm - The Hawker Sea Fury display

5pm - RAF Dakota display – this Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will grace the skies over Plymouth Sound closing our 2014 Armed Forces Day

Oops! Duff gen.
There is one ground exhibit in the shape of an 820NAS Merlin HM.2 - ZH857/CU , which arrived on The Hoe at 1215 local and, according to the crew, is due to depart on Sunday morning (29-06-14) .No time I'm afraid.

I'm not optimistic about the Sea Fury appearing, or anything else from the RNHF. VX281 managed a ground run at North Weald yesterday but, as far as I know, that is as far as it goes. (However I'd be delighted if someone would contradict me!)
