Re: Newquay 10-04-2014
Thanks for the info. Will something else be flying over to collect the crew?
Re: Newquay 10-04-2014
Thanks for the news. T-255 has only been in Dutch Military service two or three years hasn't it? If so i may have to travel up to Newquay for a look at it, as i have yet to see this particular cab.Guts69 wrote:Expected on this day and on it's final flight is RNlAF DC-10 T-255 were it will be dismantled.

Re: Newquay 10-04-2014
Very interesting. wonder why Newquay has been selected to part out this particular machine??is it a sign of things to come at newquay(not that I'm complaining. I have a thing for wrecks and relics!)
Noted when passing the out day was a large steel structure being erected over by the HAS's. Might this have been a temporary shelter.for the stripping of such aircraft?
EDIT just noted that it's been wfu and stored. Since 31-12-2013.so guess it's time has come!

Re: Newquay 10-04-2014
Not sure,Buzzer, but Apple Aviation are moving in to Newquay so presumably the structure going up at present is (hopefully) their hangar and one of their roles is aircraft breaking as well as undertaking maintenance. Any increase signs of activity at Newquay are most welcome .
Re: Newquay 10-04-2014
Ah right. All seems feasible. And as you increase in movements can only be a good thing. ;-)
Re: Newquay 10-04-2014
If Apple Aviation are to be responsible for the scrapping of the DC-10, it will a swift process, 42 days by the news in this piece.
http://www.appleaviation.com/index.php? ... Itemid=117
However it also states that slots will be available from 1st September onwards.

Re: Newquay 10-04-2014
Does anyone have an arrival time for it, or has it already arrived?
Re: Newquay 10-04-2014
No idea of an arrival time Kyle, and as often with aircraft movements(even more so with aircraft that have been stored for some time,as this one has) its subject to service ability!!kylegreetkernow wrote:Does anyone have an arrival time for it, or has it already arrived?
And no... it hasn't arrived yet. Hence why it states in the first post, expected to arrive
on this date!!
Re: Newquay 10-04-2014
No problem mate, thanks. I'll keep an eye out on PP. Hope this move will mean even more movements at Newquay! I asked if it had arrived as I wondered whether it had arrived since the last reply as there was a couple hours gapbuzzer wrote:No idea of an arrival time Kyle, and as often with aircraft movements(even more so with aircraft that have been stored for some time,as this one has) its subject to service ability!!kylegreetkernow wrote:Does anyone have an arrival time for it, or has it already arrived?

2004, so just over a decade. Delivered in August 1978, however!Malfatron Malkovic wrote:T-255 has only been in Dutch Military service two or three years hasn't it?
Re: Newquay 10-04-2014
It may well have been delivered to the Dutch Air Force in 2004, but i think it did not take-up it's Dutch Military service untill 2010 or 2011.
I am also perfectly aware of it's previous civil career. However! That's better discussed on a civil forum, do you not think?

Re: Newquay 10-04-2014
I didn't mention a civil career, unless I missed something? Only that it was first delivered in August 1978. Equally, it depends what you define as "military service". The F-35 is currently in British military service in my opinion, but based on the above I would imagine yours differs?
Re: Newquay 10-04-2014
You didn't mention it's civil career, i did. Equally you are quite correct in your assumption of my opinion on the F-35's military service. What are you going to be telling me next? That as soon as HMS Queen Elizabeth is launched she'll immediately be in military service?
Re: Newquay 11-04-2014
