Info. required re. Istrana AFB

Post by baltimore » Mon Oct 21, 2013 9:27 pm

Can anyone enlighten me as to:

1. What type(s) of aircraft are based at Istrana?
2. Are there any restrictions on taking photos along the perimeter fence, i.e. am I likely to be arrested?!
3. Assuming that the answer to 2 above is 'no', are there any good locations (e.g. mounds, etc.) for taking photos (as opposed to spotting)?
4. Is there any flying at the weekend?

Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks, Chris, you're a star! My step-daughter lives not far from Treviso, so I thought I'd pay a visit to Istrana next time I go to see her.

No worries! If you're in the area, it's certainly got to be worth a look!

I was there in 95 and the police were a bit touchy then, even at the airports. I would still err on the side of caution, be discreet.
... and a fair haired slightly balding Bobby Charlton to kick off!

Thanks, roughcutter, I'll bear that in mind.
