I know it's not related but can you help with a few questions...

In September i was in Tuscany near Bibbiena north of Arezzo.
I saw a white and blue AB412? heading south in fog. Do you know where this might have come from, i believe the colours could be the Italian Police/Paramilitary use?

Also a few Typhoons were seen at quite low level playing around the area, turning very hard and so on. But again. where were these from and how far away from base would they have been?

Any help appreciated.

It was nice to see something whilst on holiday. I also saw a few Italian C130s heading towards Pisa (there was a whole line up of them there) and also lots of fast jets vapour trailing, some looking like Typhoons but others i was not sure about, all were heading north. Also saw a KC135 heading south.

Hi Razor ,
sorry for delay of my reply .

About the AB.412 , probably it was an AB.212 of Polizia di Stato [Italian Police] from Pratica di Mare [an AB situated
south/west of Rome , near Tyrrennean Sea [20/30km] , meanwhile the Typhoons came from Grosseto AB which is situated on the south of Toscana region
about I think 200/250 km north of Rome.

Thanks for that mate...
Apparently also, i had just missed by a few days a helicopter sucking water out of our villa pond....for a fire.
When we landed at Pisa we saw the Canadairs taking off to head inland too!

About the helicopter probably it was an Erickson S-64E Skycrane , detached at Lucca/Tassignano [2/4 helos] .
They belong to the Department of Protezione Civile . They are used against the fires [along the Vigili del Fuoco - Fire department ]
and to transport heavy loads.
Other bases used by Department of P.C. are Oristano [Sardinia] , Trapani [Sicily] , Albenga [Liguria , near Genoa] and
Salerno/Pontecagnano [near Naples].
