help spotting and getting here

Post by Bobby Jo » Wed Dec 30, 2009 12:38 pm

I have promised myself a trip here for years so would appreciate any help spotting and even stayin here

I think the best way is to fly over to Hahn or Frankfurt then hire a car.

But driving over is an option as I have drove to Frankfurt before

Any help on this or links to previous reports on how to get here would be great

Thanks

Rob

Having visited Ramstein 3 times this year, I can highly recomend it. Each time, I stayed in the Hotel Rossenhof. Friendly and helpful staff and the perimeter fence is only 10 minutes walk from the 08 end of the runway. A decent map showing good points for photography / spotting can be found on Scramble.

Personnaly, I get the ferry from Dover to Dunkerque and drive through Belgium to Germany. Driving this way you go past Spangdahlem.

One word of warning. DO NOT take a scanner with you. If the local Politzie catch you with one, it will be confiscated and you will receive a hefty fine.

Also, within 45 mins either side of Ramstein there is Hermeskeil Museum and the Speyer Technik Museum. Both are well worth a visit.

Hope this helps.
