Why are the UH-60's coded KY (I assume for Kentucky)? Do the German based units have codes relating to the AAF's there or are they all coded from their original unit and stick by this?

There was a FY 08 AH-64D that I saw on Live Logs earlier, stupidly didnt take note of the full serial though
