Laptop

Post by Paulo » Tue May 06, 2014 9:34 pm

New laptop time, I've got a decent pc that will do for editing at home and mass storage but I am on the look out for a new laptop.

Currently relying on my work laptop, which whilst top of the range and built for using very large spreadsheets, I struggle with installing third party software as admin controlled.

I guess around £500-£600 should be enough for a laptop with
Win7
DVD/Blu ray
500gb hard drive min
An SSD for the OS would be nice too
HDMI output for watching on the big screen

No gaming capabilities needed, would like to run Lightroom on the go too.

Links would be fantastic!! :)

Am I asking too much??

Can't answer your entire question, but you are certainly not asking too much, my Laptop has all of that except the SSD and I got it for £350 (usually £400 I think, but it was an end of production model), runs Lightroom perfectly as well! I'm sure someone on here can recommend one :)

Beware of the Hewlet Packard Pavilion series. Great set of specs which it delivers on okay, but tend's to overheat quickly. My mate had one and the motherboard burned out on it.

If you are looking to spend £600 then you may want to consider a used Macbook. Once bitten you won't regret it!

This company are really good: http://www.scrumpymacs.co.uk/store/macbook.html nothing to do with me but I have dealt with them and thoroughly recommend.
